Ok, I woke up at 3 and have been playing Half Life 2 since then. So far I must say this game is absolutley amazing, everything about it. The two best things about this game so far. Is the atmosphere of the game and the level design. The atmosphere is one of the few games that brings you into the game and it feels like your making a difference in the world as part of the resistance. Also, the Level design in this game is amazing, you just have to experience it for yourself. Id say this game is the single best example of how level design should be.
The gun play is great as well, props to Valve for delievering a superb game. I think the game will restore faith in Valve even after all the controversy surrounding Half Life 2.
More after School Today.
If your wondering I just got the Gravity Gun :D

Yep, I'm astonished. I genuinely believed it wouldn't live up to the hype.

Haha, that opening sequence of events is amazing. My head hurts though from too much. 3 hours of HL2 straight sounds great, but I feel physically sick. :(

Same. I've actually been experiencing motion sickness from this game, which is amazing. I never get motion sick. But somehow, the realism of the game is so good, that my mind is being tricked into thinking I'm moving. Its fucking crazy.
I'm not terribly far into the game either, I wasn't able to start playing until after noon because of a few complications. (WTF? DVD-ROM?! I use my PS2 for DVDs... so I had to go and buy a DVD-ROM. Its about time anyhow.) My biggest surprise is being able to play the game almost flawlessly on topped off graphics. Everything on high, and AA on 6x, and I only get the briefest of snags if I run out into a large open area. AND IT LOOKS AMAZING.
So far the gameplay has been fucking excellent. A nice combination of exiting and nerve-wracking. I like how it has a few little puzzles scattered here and there to break up the action a bit, but they aren't too long or too difficult (though a few have forced me to actually sit and think things through for a minute) and really add to the flow of the game. The weapons kick ass, at least the few I've managed to get my hands on so far. My latest toy is the .357 Magnum, which packs one hell of a punch :) The AI is actually pretty tricky at times, which I really like. A challenging opponent makes for a much more interesting fight.
Anyhow, I could yammer on for pages about HL2 and how awesome I think it is, but truth be told, I need to get some sleep. So that I can get back up and play some more. :D
EDIT- A screenie I took, thought it captured the feel of the game a bit. Yeah, its a .jpg, and doesn't do the game justice, but imageshack will only take files that are so big.

Tis very scaleable.. but I do see your point. It would have been nice if they'd released a benchmark with the engine.
