...and I get to a certain part early on in the game, and I noticed something. there were missing textures. I thought "no matter, this will only happen once or twice." But then I continue and I realize half the GAME looks like this. its annoying, it destroys the atmosphere, and its ruining my HL2 gaming experience. :tear:

Thats really weird, first few things I would do is make sure you have the latest drivers and direct x version. Then post on Half Life Fan Site forums, if not wait for a patch.

Id try making sure vid card drivers, and direct x is up to date, then try a reinstall.

Raiden, ive seen that weird purple texture, it means there is a corrupt texture. Try you video card drivers though.

i'd reinstall hl2. that happened to me with the old engine, good to see valve's sticking to their violet checkerboard

Turn down AA and AF, also try the latest drivers for your card (I presume you have an nvidia card... this is primarily an issue with those).

Don't max out the settings?

apparently it's a problem with AA/AF on Nvidia cards.

Should've bought a dell instead of the Alienware.

I wouldn't wish a Dell on anyone from personal experience.

The only problem is I have an ATI card, and it was purchased off steam, I cant really reinstall it. Not as far as I know.

Sure you can. delete local content in options, or jsut manually remove it from the steamapps folder.
