I don't agree with the title in the least bit, but it's true.

PS is a game that goes by kill stats, (when they have them)

So what are we to do? Cert the reaver? Starfire? BFR?

First up is the merit list, you guessed it, kill stats. We finally got around to queing and bailing, next is your kill stats, AGAIN.

Support? Teamplay? Tactics? don't waste your breath.

It's true kids, they want their stats (or maybe a new toy)

What do you think one of the big draws of MMO gaming is? EQ and games like it revolve almost entirely around building up your stats, be they attributes or levels or equipment or whatever. And these games are massively successful if done right. If you think building stats has no place in Planetside, think again. If anything, it needs to give players more stats to build up (Merits will really help, but there needs to be extra stuff too) because as a FPS game, PS is sub-par, and teamwork and stat building are not mutually exclusive. The guys who work together are often the guys who win or lose the fights.

Alot of people want stats so they can go around and say look i live in my parents basement and have more kills than you so i im cooler, but there are also alot that like stats not to say there better but just to look at, and the last ones that just want to play.

I few people I know play the game to get kills, that's it, a kill count. I think that's very sad. One guy said he thought it was very fun playing a cloaker, but he says he's more effective as a grunt and get's more kills that way so that's what he does now, just sad. :(

I don't think its about kills at all. I just think the game is about winning good fights (IE not 80-20%) and having fun. I've logged off with a 3-1 ratio of deaths to kills before and felt I've done a good job for my empire. For me, helping others is enough most of the time and I'll gladly heal/repair people outside of a tower instead of rushing in.

But that's just me =)
