Looks more faithful to the book, none of this (excuse the pun) sugar coated bullshit from the original film.

Why Johnny Depp? That's what I don't get.

I like both Jonny Depp and Tim Burton. I'm gonna be forced to see it as my girlfriend <3s Jonny Depp (*sigh*), but at least it's not lookin' too bad.

EDIT: Oh, and:

i do in fact have high hopes for this. it makes me sad that the first movie deviated from the book so much, but i'll admit that it stands as a great trip film on its own.

This could be good. I do like Johnny Depp, if anything for his outstanding performance in Pirates. No-one could have done a more likeable, but completely bastard-like and obviously psychotic pirate.

O F N Don't hurt me!

I still like the old version although it deviated from the book a lot! The Oompa-Loompa song has so many ways it can be changed into dirty and/or funny songs... it cannot be hated.

It will definately be good. If not for a multitude of reasons, than just for this one. Tim Burton.

Wilder did a good Waco Kid in Blazing Saddles, 'tis true. But don't hate Johnny Depp, he is a good actor, despite the fact he's popular.

In addition to be drooled over by fangrils (who I hate, therefore, I hate him by Proxy), yes, Depp is a good actor. However, I dont agree with casting him in some roles. Simply seems like everyone and their mother casts him for anything

I don't think anyone's suggested him for any Star Trek movie, yet. Though now that I think about it...

He would fit the role in a startrek movie IMHO. But HOW IN 1000 BLOODY FUCKS did he get this role?

I maintain that Depp's best performances are Pirates and Edward Scissorhands. both amazing. i'm a big fan of Depp because i recognize his acting talent.

EDIT: and, by the way.... the original "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory" by Dahl was a bit more dark and quite the sophisticated social commentary that the first film was certainly neither of. Of course, had the first film been closer to the book it would have been too artsy for the audience of the time. It's a bit more simplistic in nature than what most people are capable of contemplating these days. Albeit there are still quite a few retards out there. Regardless, it's about time for a Wonka that's more like Dahl's Wonka. when this movie comes to theaters, i'll be one of the first people singing: "i've got the gooolden tiiiiiiicket"..

Does Wanka make Fudge? Will we see the Fudge Packing department at Wanka's factory? I bet Johnny has pack a bit of fudge in his day, though he might not admit it. :D :p

The thing with Johnny Depp that makes him so goddamned attractive is the fact that he looks like he's actually a really, really cool guy. Not like Brad Pitt who, as cliche as it may sound, is stunning but looks like he's probably a pretentious dickhead. You see Johnny Depp and think, "How big an asshole could Edward Scissorhands BE?" He just looks like a guy you'd have such a good time with.

And, yeah, he's a looker.

Ivan

I've read and heard but of course don't know first hand, that Brad Pitt is really a cool down to earth kind of guy and not an ass like Russell Crow is said to be.
