that's not for christmas, love. we get to make our own holiday for that one, and you can't kill people with it.
That'd be an awesome Christmas present. Chainsaw all the way.
Realistically however, S&W 500.

i quoted myself, i dunno why.
Getting a fiancee > Getting a new gun
not exclusive. actually, package deal. new gun && fiancee. k?
mag: i have too many friends that *have* owned 500s (meaning they've bought them, shot two boxes of that hella expensive ammo, then sold the gun). it's like buying 25" rims for your cooper. stupid.
However, it is gangsta... yo. Anyway, I know nothing about guns, so naturally, I figured bigger is better.

Trig - in Florida, there is no limit to what kind of firearm you can carry.
Its a concealed WEAPONS permit. If you were able to hide a 4ft sword, you could carry that with you. That being said, my recommendations.
If you want a concealable pistol that is not full size but not a compact, try this:
hk p2000
http://www.hksystems.com.au/images/News/p2000GRIPS.jpg
Smaller version, the p2000sk - subcompact in .40 and 9mm
http://www.hk-usa.com/images/handguns/p2ksubmain.jpg
Also, I'm going to be in the Gainesville area this weekend. If you would like to get an opportunity to handle and fire a .40 p2000, let me know. You pick the range :)
Another excellent VERY concealable pistol is the Seecamp, if you can find one. They come in .32ACP, and I think theres a .380 variant.
A cheaper .380 that'll get the job done is a keltec .380. You can fit it in your back pants pocket - they make wallet holsters for it.

I say go with a 1911..
I have two. One was my Papa's in world war 2, the other is SA.
The Govy Ish Colt is unaltered and still sexy as ever. The SA Colt is all matte-black and has a beaver tail grip safety, skeletal trigger, factory hammer (i don't like how the skeletal hammers look, unfortunately), jet comp, and i've purchased several extended mags for it. I'd love to slap an extended mag into both of them and have a shoot-out in china-town or something, but.. well, that's illegal, soooo.. yeah. Still, both of them are beautiful and neither has ever done anything that worries me. Even with all the shit i've done to my SA it's still as reliable as ever. The Colt is just a great gun. Plus, it's flat as a pancake! Talk about comfy. I love it. Berettas and what not have grips that are about six inches wide. Fuck that. They're fun for movies but in real life the damn things are just too bulky, in my opinion.
Ah, and my dad owns a G19. He's never had a problem with it though he says it is rather expensive to keep loaded. I've shot it a few times, and, I'll say this much: i thought it was bad-ass. But, yeah, i could never afford to own one. nope nope nope.

Sorta highjack ...
My wife was hoping for an engagement ring a few Christmases ago. I didn't get her one (wasn't ready and she knew it but was still hoping). I bought her a beautiful bracelt that cost a few thousand. She looked at it and said she didn't like it. Only years later did I find out that she really wanted an engagement ring and that anything I got her besides that wouldn't have been good enough.
martyr
2004-12-08, 03:16 PM
don't tell her, but i think it's kinda cheezy to get an engagement ring for christmas. i feel like it's like saying "oh, here's a marriage for christmas, it's roughly equivalent to the tie you're giving me"
Glaynor
2004-12-08, 03:53 PM
Some states also have laws governing the giving of gifts in terms of a breakup. I.E. - if you give an engagement ring for a holiday or birthday, something like that, and you break up before the marriage occurs the courts state that the engagement ring was a gift which you can not force a return of. However, if you give the engagement ring without it being a holiday and thereby not being a 'gift' the courts state that the ring must be returned upon a breakup. The ring signifies a promise to do something in the future (the marriage) but upon that not occurring the woman has no rights to keep the ring.
