Holy fatness, Batman.
CHICAGO (Reuters) - Obese Americans are overwhelming medical imaging machines that now have a hard time peering inside their bodies, doctors have reported.
"Hospital radiology departments are increasingly unable to adequately image and assess obese patients because of the limitations in current radiology equipment," said Raul Uppot, a physician at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Equipment makers "need to think about design changes and technological advancements to obtain quality imaging in larger patients," he added.
"In the meantime, radiologists need to be aware of the limitations of their current imaging equipment and optimise current protocols and equipment settings to accommodate America's fattening population," Uppot said.
He and colleagues released their report at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America. It was based on a review of 15 years of radiologic exams at the Boston hospital that had been labelled as being of limited use because of body size.
The percentage of such reports nearly doubled over the period, the researchers said, and corresponded to increases in obesity in the United States. Over the 15 years, obesity increased in Massachusetts from 9 percent of the population to 16 percent.
The biggest problems were with abdominal ultrasound followed by chest X-ray and abdominal computed tomography, the report said.
More than 60 percent of Americans are overweight or obese, with a much higher risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and some cancers than people of healthy weight.
The American Obesity Association estimates that 127 million people in the United States are overweight, 60 million are obese, and 9 million are severely obese.

Are all Americans NAAFA (http://www.naafa.org) Members now?
Thats seriously too bad, maybe we need to be invaded by japan to show what real work ethic is like, and stop being lazy bastards.

I feel saddened by this. Now I must down my sorrows by eating in deep-fried food in buckets larger than a toilet until I have to go. But then that would mean having to walk. ugh.

Paula Deen, of Food TV fame, once made hotdogs, wrapped in bacon, deep-fried, and covered in cheese and chili.
Every time I tell someone about that, I feel my arteries tightening up in protest.

Apparently being overweight(fat, whatever you want to call it) immediately means people are lazy bastards.
Wow.

Let's all relaxxxx. National stereotypes can be funny if everyone involved knows they're to be taken with a grain of salt.
Like when I told Smaug yesterday to wear his retainer, because I didn't and now my bottom teeth look like Frag's or Hezzy's. See? It's funny because the generalization is that British people have bad teeth
Nota bene, I've seen more bad teeth on Yanks than I have on Brits!

Maybe the more he points them out to you the more you'll strive to not fit the stereotypes! Stereotypes are usually at least partially true because that's how they became stereotypes!

Of course any sane and reasonable person wouldn't take offense to something so ridiculous absurd as sinking the US under the weight of it's own obese population. But then that reinforces the stereotype of Yanks with no sense of humour

There's a lot of things I wish other people would cut down on, like being oversensitive, like taking everything too seriously. S'called tolerance. :nodrama:
internetn : Planetsideradio became PWN Radio, because in their eyes, changing their name = instant listeners. Unfortunately, what they don't seem to realize is that it also involves communication, proper management and a wide variety of quality djs. I gave up in disgust and put an application in to Suprnova radio (now Radiofusion)

Eh, see, I, like most other folks, actually do care what other people think about me. Shocking, I know, but true. I also don't happen to think of him as a stinking limey: I see him as an intelligent, oft-witty fellow. But I do not think that this is one of his particularly moments, and I would appreciate if he could at least partially desist in his (very minor) flames. Thanks!

Well HopesDespair started it didn't he? (Or Nick Wrasse, whatever that bastards name was.)
Well he was my outfit leader... We were going strong and then he started PS Radio, that was fine us officers kept the outfit running, even though our leader was non existent. Then he started playing this other game... it was wierd, his attention was shifting like a 3 year old.. No commitment.. Anyways me Killbot01915 started a mutiny and then finally brike off and started the 101st Sausage Brigade

Look mate, if I was trying to flame you, you'd know it. It's obviously not even an attack, it's not directed at anyone. It's so absurd that it couldn't possibly be intended as an insult. It's nothing more than an off-the-cuff remark, which I found amusing, as did others in push1c0n (censored?.
Call me a stinking limey all you like, nothing better than a bit of international banter to get the blood flowing.
Hopes started it yes, but he has no radio experience. He keeps making changes without asking the staff, his ability to communicate is patchy at best, atrocious at worst. He had at his disposal myself, with 5 years of webcasting experience, 3 years of FM radio experience and a year's worth of radio management experience, and Paulsen, a technical guru and excellent professional DJ. Did he use either of us? Not really. He just seemed to go off on his own angle. PSR's fall from grace was pretty much down to him. Paulsen saw it coming and jumped ship, I stayed right till the end, hoping perhaps that they'd learn lessons. They didn't.

Weeeelllll.... in a sense it was a war of northren agression... but I actually believe is was a war of equal aggression.. Both sides added to the building pressure... The north started it the building pressure and the south broke it...
My great, great, great ,great granfather, was the Souths ambassador to spain.. modernized the southren school system, was a colonol in the army, had a hole bunch a money and no slaves.. and the only reason he fought was because his state told him too...
Thats how it was... the south thought the north was opressing the rights of the states, turning it into another british empire... I feel some sympathy, but I know for the good of the USA, the north had to win...
just my hundred dollars
JetRaiden: I always thought that the southren accent (or some of the many) sounded refined, and prestigiuos(SP?)... maybe the twang of mississipi you are getting mistaken wth?

And if you want to see laziness, look at the socialists in Europe, working is practically illegal.

Have you ever seen The Lady Killers?
You know how Tom Hanks talks? Thats the refined version of the southren accent... I'm sorry I never meant to be so defensive, I'm just tired of the way people look at me and say I am unitellegent(and of course I spell it wrong) just because of the way I talk. I love my history, and I am proud of it.. Not always are we right, but history is written by the victors... I also don't like the atitude of kust because your ancestors owned slaves, "You owe me something" I never owned a slave, that would be horrible, but why would I owe them something that my grandfathers did? I owe my parents, my girlfriend, my brothers, my teachers, my friends.. but I don't owe people that treat me like dirt....
Damn my rambling...
PS. I hate late posting... BTW I WAY 350 lbs - 180 lbs. and I'm still overweight!!!

I thought Yankees was originally from some Dutch like 'John Cheese', which, when said in Dutch, sounds like 'Yankee', and there were many Dutch in New Enlgand, most heaivly concentrated in New York (I think). The term spread and by the time of the Civil War was used by the nefarious 'Rebs.

Trig yup, that's about right, and at last count 1/3 were clinically obese. I also read some statistic that said American's on average consumed the equivelant of 9 square meals a day but then it didn't give an objective definition of square.
As far as I'm concerned, I don't honestly care. Sobekus' view is pretty inaccurate, our unemployment rates are 2.6%, hardly a catastrophe in anyone's books. Course with America being such an industrial power and all there's plenty of grinders to feed the meat into. Shame all I know about Welfare to Work came from a Michael Moore film, so that's automatically invalid in the eyes of right-wingers. Might go and do a little more research on the issue.

I assume the fact that a 9-5, 5 days a week job is the absolute norm over here would answer your question.
Fact is, do not comment on something you don't know much about. You may wish to blame the evil commie-socialist laser-octopuses for all the world's problems but I'm afraid that's just as blinkered as stupid fundamentlists than blame societies problems on rock music and video games.
As for Michael Moore, I know quite a few bigger liars. They go by the name of politicians.
