Well, sort of. :o
I went out and got a slew of applications today.
Put in an E-Application at the kiosk in Albertsons. Got an application from Jamba Juice, Subway, and Chik-Fil-A. And then on the way home, I thought "Eh, what the hey, i'll talk to the manager at Two Brothers from Italy". Two Brothers from Italy is a local Pizza place. Some of you may know I worked at Pizza Factory for 5 months tossing pie's, so I have experience.
I walked in, he was making a sub for some other customers. He asked me what he could get me, I told him I was here to apply for a job. He told me that unfortunately he was only hiring cooks. I explained to him that, fortunately I have 5 months experience tossin :D.
He had me take off my jacket right then and there, and toss a friggin pizza.
He told me my skill was good, but that i'd have to adapt to their tossing style. They dont use pins, they crust their pie's, and they palm knead. I can pick up the style in 2 days work, guranteed :D :D
The catch is, I am on a 2 week probationary period. If I cant hack the work, I get cut. I highly doubt I wont be able to handle it, but if I dont make it after 2 weeks, i'll just turn in the apps I picked up today. PROFIT++
Cliffs:
1. Drive around town applying for jobs
2. Stop by Pizza Place
3. Toss Pizza for owner, hired on spot.
4. Start Monday @ 4:00pm
5. 2 week probationary period. If I suck during those 2 weeks, I get canned. If not, i'm on part time working 30 hours a week.
I'm psyched. :D :D :D
~$30 hrs /week @ $6.75 /hr = $775-800 /month
:)
By the way, I talked to a little betty at Chik-Fil-A. She's 19, she FLEW OUT from Tennesee for the opening to train the new employee's. She asked my name, and we chit-chatted and I was so close to asking her out but then the manager lady handed me the application and I had to leave. She smiled at and eyed me the whole way out. UNF SHE WAS HOT!
That accent made me melt.
BTW, They just had a grand opening 2 days ago. They have the Chik-Fil-A cow dancing there in the costume. It was rad.

I can't believe people still remember the joke about your lisp.
Anyway, Great job Squeeky! Go you! Get that pizza place job and then take that Chik-Fil-A chick out!
You keep working at these pizza places you'll have enough experience to open your own one day. Just don't advertise you use your own hand made special sauce.

When you're inexperienced, unqualified for "real" work, broke, and have no other choice, hell yeah it's good money...
...I know because I was thrilled to be making $7.50 for Pier 1

^^ I used to know how to do that...
Nice going squeeky. longest i've ever held a job was three weeks. I get bored easy, and find ways to get myself fired...
I think i've done everything San Diego has to offer. waiter, construction, lawn service, janitor, Beach Custodian (THAT rocked. got to hang out with a bunch of hot chicks all day...), bus boy, fast food, clerk, accountant's assistant, worked for a tour company for a while..., cabin boy on a Harbor Fisherman (that's a kind of boat, you sickos...), etc.

When you help people put stuff away they give you tips and stuff. Technically you arent supposed to tip them and all but people still do. Its not alot on a good day its like $20 but $20 +$10/hr = rich man.

As a manager trainee for a private company, I made $14 an hour and worked 40 hours a week plus 15 hours at time-and-a-half. I commanded that price because of my previous experience, where other trainees were lucky to make ten an hour. When I completed training, I became one of the highest-paid managers in the company.
$6.75 is low-end, even our new cooks start out at that rate.

Yeah but you're Canadian and 17 Canadian dollars is worth about five bucks.
Otherwise, I'd be able to buy a carton of smokes for less than sixty bucks in Nova Scotia.

Not with the US economy as shitty as it is now.
$17 Canadian = $14.20 US

I went to my first day today. I show up, the boss's wife isnt in yet, so I wait around. 25 minutes later  she shows up. I get my shirt (XXL, I wear a M) and my hat. I change, and get started on training. Good news? I'm gonna be working 25-30 hours a week. I will be making $8.00 an hour (fucking woot, only cooks get this wage) and i'll be cooking only. That means: No mopping, dusting, dishes, vacuuming, taking out the trash, sweeping. I'll be answering phones/taking orders, and spending most of my time cooking. Cook's rarely do any work.
I'm happy about this job. Good wages, hours, and people. We always have a cuet little betty working the register, either the owner, or his wife, and 2 cooks and a Driver (or 2). Works out great. Now, the bad news of the night :(.
I was going to get some cheese out of the big walk-in freezer. For those who dont know, walk-in's are like walk-in closets, but they freeze stuff . And the door to said walk-in is huge, like a vault door. Well, the door is kind of old and to open it you have to use a little brute force. I used too much, swung it open, and caught it between the door and the wooden make table. OUCH! First thing I think is "Shit, I'm fucking up already". Then the owner's wife says to me:
Owners wife: David....go to the bathroom
Me: What? Sorry, was an accident
Owners wife: Oh my...holy....quick
Me:  (at this point I finally look down)
My hand was dripping blood like a faucet and I was bleeding all over the place. I was too emberassed that I didnt even realize it. After running it under water, I got it bandaged. The nail itself was black and blue, and i'll probably lose it :(.
I tried to be hardcore and take a pic for you, but I couldnt bear to take off the bandaid. It was stuck to the nail, and pulling on the adhesive hurt like a motherfucker. I got a pic anyways.

It's throbbing like a bass drum right now.
I'm exhausted. I'm going to sleep.

You know Squeeky we had a great thread derailing going on about Hamma and you had to ruin it by your injury. j/k.
That must hurt like a bitch. Were they upset with you about the door? I hope not. Take tylenol to help curb the pain. You may want to take the badnage off (even though it will kill) so that they sticky part isn't right on where you are injured. Taht isn't good to have there.
Good news is maybe the hottie will give you some, erm, 'sympathy'.

I'd have to agree, Squeeky...yer priorities are in the wrong place:
You have a camera, and a girl made for it, yet you decided to smash your finger and take a picture of that, instead....
And I'd smashed plenty of apendages (no, not THAT one...sickos...). Hurts like a muthafucka. Take a bucket of ice and stick that hand in there for about an hour a night. The swelling will go down. The pain will go away (for a while) and you'll be healed about three days faster. Working in construction teaches you stuff...like never, EVER, let go of a sledgehammer....*shudder*
