I was reading the plot for this game a few days ago for the first time :D.
anyway, i notice that the beginning of the plot sounds a lot like the the american revolution.
The NC broke away from the TR because of oppression. Also plz note the uniform colors: NC=blue=american uniform color, TR=red=british uniform color
Feel free to post comments.

Certainly not comunistic ideals of brotherhood for the 'american' side.

They're not really the same. Britain was ruling its American colonies from across the ocean. The people in America for the most part had no real affiliation with Britain. Their predecessors may have been British, but they were born and raised in America, being taxed by a nation they've never been to, and ruled by a King they've never seen.
In contrast, the traitors who formed the NC were working for the TR for some time before they went to Auraxis, and wasted very little time in betraying the TR and forming their own group once the wormhole closed. This isn't a case of some people who've lived for years away from the main government their forefathers hailed from, fighting for their own independence from a foreign King. This is a bunch of idealistic upstarts who saw an opportunity to make a grab for power, and they went ahead with it. They're like the people who burglarize stores during a blackout or riot. It's not a romantic fight for your rights, starring Mel Gibson, it's a bunch of looters trying to do what they feel like doing now that they're not accountable to a central authority body anymore.

The only thing they have in common is a group of people seceding from a central group and engaging in warfare with them.

after reading that.. I am conviced that Planetside is based off of the american revolution.
In fact.. I could imagine a whole new game. 3 factions: American: Tan, Brittish, Red, French, Blue. Something like that. Weapons.. shweet. Vehicles?

I don't quite see how the French are the Vanu... the French were aiding the American's to no end, and undoubtedly without their aid, we would have lost, but that's besides the point. So unless the PlanetSide story somehow incorporates the Vanu helping out the NC to no end...

Umm.. I think France had a little more going for it than just to be the good neighbor(SP)
If britains colony's would gain their independence then britian would also loose a little chunk of profit from those tobacco sales
It was a possibility that some, if not a large part of France's ambition was weaken Britians ability to make war... (I personally don't think that it actualy worked)
The French wanted to make Britian embarrased. How bad does it look does it look to see your decendents break off from you? I mean with the african colony's and others I don't think that many british caucasians were as willing to join a rebellion for a another nation or people so different from them
Always a chance that France might thought that maybe america would be weakened enough but still free from britian to be conquered
And a few more assumptions
BTW If there are any french people on this forum, may I know why you hate us Americans so much? I was over in France this summer (A very beautiful place no?) and so many people thought that we (americans) were evil.. I watched a little TV and that was way different from even stations that I thought would be closest to French views on, war, life, food, women etc.
Oh well...
