Hey im new to this game, and this site, my friend told me about this game and how great it is because its an MMOFPS that u dont have to join games and play. So i was readin through the news and stuff, i found that theres events and stuff and theres a public test server. I know you have to pay for this game, but what exactly is a public test server, is it free? or you need a subscribed sony account to play.

The test server is where they test patches before they patch the main servers.

hi, welcome to PSU and planetside.
the public test server is for people with payed accounts to test out new things they're adding to the game, or fixes for bugs in the game.
for example, the current version on the live, "normal" servers (markov, emerald, and werner) is version 3.1.6, whereas they have put version 3.2.5 on test for us to help them troubleshoot and beta test the new code.

Oh ok, so i will need a paid account to play the test server. I also heard of the a "10 day recruit" thing, what is that? Right now im usin my friends account to test the game.

your friend probably got a buddy key with his game, allowing you to use his cds to play for 30 days for free before having to buy your own game.

if he's a jerk and won't let you use it (it comes on a cd-shaped peice of paper in the cd wallet with planetside) then you can use this 10-day buddy thing, works the same way. have your buddy (is "buddy" being overused here?") click on this link (http://planetside.station.sony.com/images/recruit.gif) to get you that ten-day trial.

i just asked him, he said he used a buddy recruit already? and he doesnt have the 30 thing.

Each paid account actualy gets 10 buddy keys to hand out to friends, he might have a few left...unless he gave all ten out.

If the buddy keys aren't tied to your friend's discs then those of us here might have some extra ones to email you.
