View Full Version : PS rendering:
From looking in the SS database here on PSU, ive noticed that PS doesnt render some tree`s / grass (detail in short) @ distance? I wonder how players look like in distance, in detail or decreased detail?
if u have a sniper, and zoom into an object, will there be full detail or blurry like shown on the SS`s. Or grass for that matter?
-update-
guess this screenshot answers the detail part:

But what about when u zoom into objects?

I would guess that all objects have a "clip range" for rendering like most MMORPGs, and it probably can be toggled in options how far it is. I also would guess it would create the range from your CURRENT point of view, so if you were zoomed in, it would draw the world as if you were standing where you zoomed in to.

that's an old picture too, so they may have improved how stuff looks at a range now; though not drastically i would imagine

Are you sure trees will diappear? I'm pretty sure they wont..

I doubt they'll disappear. In fact, they'll probably do it like Tribes 2 - the further away from the tree you get, the less leaves/detail is rendered. Then, you get a certain distance away and it's practically just a stump with no detail at all. :)
I think so too. Also I doubt there would be a plain long enough and barren enough to see something at an incredible distance, other features would probably be in the way of it, unless youre in the air.
Hmmm, now that I think about it, I wonder what the altitude limit will be for air vehicles?

Trees do not dissapear. Stuff is rendered in a sphere around the player. So as you move away there is just less detail. The tree remains.

thats right. tree's will probably disappear after so far away but for the most part, it becomes less detailed. In BF42, if you are a sniper and you go really far away from who you are aiming at, and you look through the scope, you notice that the gun is not visible in the hand.

Your BF1942 must be messed up, it doesn't do that to me...only weird thing that happens is if they're on like the limit of the clip range they appear really gray and if they're perfectly on the line, parts of them can be so gray you can't see them.
