Outfits...

I've been putting much thought into creating an outfit, and have decided that I will be forming one along with some buddies.

Which brings me to the problem:

I see other outfits with sites up and stuff, so what guarantee do they have that they will get that outfit name when PS comes out?

Or is there some official site where you can register your outfit names?

And even in the game, how would you create an outfit?

guess you just have to make sure you're the first kid on the block to get the game and register your outfit name ASAP.

There isnt one... But having said that, its not very likely that you will have the same name as another outfit. Same tag maybe but not name.

Going from previous MMO games, it will be first come first served just like names.

Also....speaking of creating an outfit...

I have a general question for the community on outfit-building techniques. I've seen some strong and organized outfits so far recruiting several people to join their ranks. Is this wise? I think it's great to have a large outfit, but is quantity > quality? Do you think it's just as valid to form a more elite outfit where the few people that are in it work well together, enjoy each others company, and are highly skilled at what they do?

Our clan is going to form an outfit for this game and I was curious as to what everyone else thought on this subject. I figured if we were facing this type of issue maybe other outfits are too.

Bohica (outfit right?) and vindicators are very powerful outfits. most organized that i've seen. but i know there are others that i haven't seen yet.

I think what your really asking is what is to prevent some other group from stealing your really cool clan name.

Probably because no one wants to take the chance not being able to use the name they want.

Lets say: (example) Clan group (A) comes out called "Masters of Vanu"

Second Clan group comes out called "Masters of Vanu".

well first hand its unlikely as most clan leaders and members want to be proud of there clan name and having discovered someone else has already been using that name, will probably opt to change theirs to something different.

But lets say, they dont give a damn, then there is only a 50/50 chance that they beat them to the punch, so imagine the embarrasment of having to change your name at the last minute. also the fact that great name options will be even more slim later on. so why risk it?

one more thing, I wouldnt want to join an outfit that 1) is not original 2) looking for conflicts in the same empire 3) lacks pride.

I think it just depends on how you want to do it. For example, we're small, but our focus is having a good time and kicking ass while we do it. We're more focused on quality of people (not player) that we have on board at the moment as opposed to numbers. Due to various conflicts that members from other games have(time, money, etc), we've started back up from stratch with Planetside. Because of that, we're starting out smaller than some other clans might be.

CDL on the other hand, is a large clan from what I can tell. They are also a multi-game clan that's been around for like four years. Just because they seem large doesn't mean that they aren't also very very good. They've had time to grow. They've got people that they already know from other games coming into planetside also, so they aren't just recruitng blind (I assume anyway... I hope you ladies aren't just picking names out of a hat :)).

So, overall, I think all outfits would be wise to go with quality over quantity. If you end up with a bunch of people who are going to argue and break up the group within three months, what's the point??

Our outfit plays BF1942, Raven Shield and will play PS. A good amount of the players in our outfit already know one another.

Some outfits are recruiting anyone and others are recruiting those they know from other games. At this point it really doesn't matter because we're all going to be newbies to the game except for Hamma but that's ok because he's in our outfit :p
