I've chosen some restaurants for the Friday night "opening ceremonies" dinner of PSU:MB. I thought it'd be nice if we had dinner by the water, to get us into the San Diego groove! Even though not all the restaurants listed are on the water, they're all restaurants that I feel would please everyone.

Whatever has the most votes by Monday gets booked!

Here are your choices:

1) Bali Hai (http://www.sandiegorestaurants.com/details.cfm?res_id=193)

The song of palms, in a twilight tropic breeze. The soft hiss of outriggers, slicing the water of a blue lagoon. The majesty and mystery of the South Pacific is recreated in one of the most unique restaurants in America...Bali Hai, on San Diego's Shelter Island.

It's legendary paradise of the Pacific, now a romantic reality, where the sensual rhythms of the Tahitian chant blend with the delectable aromas of the island luau...whether you're enjoying an intimate dinner for two, a private party for twnety or a banquet for a hundred...it's an adventure in Polynesian pleasure.

One of the most famous restaurants in the Pacific Basin, Bali Hai has become San Diego's first port of call for discriminating diners from all points of the compass. Aloha!!

2) Nick's (http://www.sandiegorestaurants.com/details.cfm?res_id=137)

This two-story restaurant offers the best of both worlds. Downstairs you'll find a light and airy, casual, California-style restaurant. Upstairs at Nick's is where the party begins. Great tasting steaks, chicken dishes, savory apple brandy pork chops, pasta dishes, crowd-pleasing sandwiches and salads. You'll enjoy the great ocean view from outdoor deck where smoking is allowed.

3) Cafe Pacifica (http://www.sandiegorestaurants.com/details.cfm?res_id=198)

Conveniently located in the heart of San Diego's historic Old Town, Cafe Pacifica features contemporary, fresh seafood cuisine with a distinct California dash of the day's locally-grown herbs and produce. Cafe Pacifica serves only the very Freshest Fish, as well as a variety of delicious Pasta dishes, Lamb Chops, and Steaks.

4) Humphrey's (http://www.sandiegorestaurants.com/details.cfm?res_id=76)

Humphrey's waterfront restaurant is one of the most popular and exciting in San Diego.Chef artfully combines the flavors of the Caribbean, Gulf Coast, Mediterranean and Pacific Rim to present an innovative menu that reflects California Coastal Cuisine at its finest. This spectacular dining experience is graced by the breathtaking views across San Diego Bay.

5) AJ's Grill (http://www.sandiegorestaurants.com/details.cfm?res_id=118)

Set on San Diego's beautiful Shelter Island, AJ's features a robust American menu served in a unique contemporay setting. Spectacular marina view dining. AJ's offers casual, informal atmosphere with great food and great prices. The Menu offers a complete range of entres and the atmosphere is comfortable, inviting and fun.

And if you've got any suggestions, just let me know :p

You're more than welcome to go to McDonald's when you're off on your own, but I'm not flying out to San Diego to eat food I can have in Good Ole' Daytona :)

Not gonna happen

The only franchise restaurant that we'd ever do at a Mobilization is Hard Rock Cafe (because it's tradition) and Medieval Times (because it's leet)

I don't believe that this poll should be so open.

Any rambling idiot can come in from Gen[M]ay, SA, TribalWar, the Official Forums, cast a vote, and tip it one way.

Trig and I will go to Denny's at 2AM, and we will discuss things over coffee, and I will use the term "fuck" liberally.

Grand fucking Slam.

You're exaggerating. This shit doesn't have to be confidential. Chill.

There were 2 other options under that magical line of humorous ommitance, and I believe you frequent one of them, asking about drug testing and what is that man doing to his anus.

I expressed myself wrong.

This poll is open to those who won't go and aren't interested in going.

I agree. Trig, i'm also wary of this being an open poll. Anyone can vote. Maybe we should only allowed those who have expressed interest in attending to vote?

I'm not voting because I'll eat anything.

It's either American food or Seafood, and I get both where I live. Hell, I'll vote for the Polynesian one.

AztecWarrior

Great, last option has 11 votes. Stupid American cuisine.

Triggar
2004-12-30, 02:46 PM
Well Aztec, you forget who makes the final decision :p

The thing is, I'd personally love to go to a nice Seafood restaurant or something like that. But I'm not doing the Mobilization for Me Personally - I have 39 other people's tastes and preferences to consider. So unfortunately that means that I probably have to go with the "safe" food, i.e. an American menu. Might not be the most exciting thing to cross your palate, but it certainly won't cause an allergic reaction or extreme displeasure either way.

The other thing is, I can't very well have the poll open to just the people who think they're going to come to the Mobilization, because how it works is that I first have to get the itinerary set, and then present it to the community to see who wants to come. When I present it, I have to already have a menu set and have a total cost-breakdown that the prospective attendees will want to see, so they know they aren't forking over $400 for jack squat.

Anyway, I'm going to book us at AJ's (assuming they can work with me to get a pre-set menu, and let me pay in advance). If there's any problems, or if anyone's got any better ideas, send me either a PM or an email at [email protected]

Thanks :p
