HL2 Physgun Mod

Saw a thread about this a while back, and now that I have HL2, I decided to go get it. Now how in the f*** do I install this bastard? When I launch the game it won't start a sp game, and it can't see my saves.

There is. I put the physgun mod folder in my HL2 folder, where the readme says to put it. But when I launch, it won't allow me to start a new game. I tried bringing in a save, but that thing was jacked up. Called weapons by their file names, same with levels. Couldn't equip the phys-cannon, couldn't see it in the weapons.
