I have talked a bit about this with my close staff, even chatted with martyr about it a bit on the phone. I don't want to get any hopes up but I want to toss out an idea, a theory.

What if PSU was to stay, but not be "PS" but more of a community. What I mean is just a forum, geared to the community and all game playing rather than a community and a forum geared to one game. If something like this was indeed to happen IRC would go, and only the forums would remain online under a different domain. It would also have some other leadership rather than just myself, dictating forum policies. One of the reasons I consider this is it will save a bunch of money every month, as there will be just forums.

I hate to play with everyones emotions on here but after reading more and more I have grown more and more sad about my decision. I realise this community is great, and I would love for them to stay together one way or another as opposed to be scattered around a bunch of different forums and IRC servers.

Again this doesent mean it is staying, I am more just picking everyone's collective brain.

Well, the final decision is up to you. Personally, I would love to see the forums stay, although it will be sad to see PSU IRC go. But, the most important thing to me dealing with PSU is the forums. The community here is great, and I would hate to have to build up my reputation at another forum. :rolleyes:

I think thats a good idea, plus alot of the peeps here don't play PS anymore including myself, just forums woulkd be good, I actually only use the forums.

We can find other ways to host IRC things, and with a few small changes to the forum operation, such as auto-deleting members who don't do anything for two months, maybe an auto-delete for posts that are inactive for 30 days, we can reduce the space of even the forums. We can proceed to chop the rest of the site and maintain the boards, but we'll still need to attract new people somehow, that's up to the admins on how to do that.

With new mods, there'll be less stress on Hamma to visit so often, so he can devote more time to his wife and the rest of his life.

the last thing i want to do is divide or diminish PSU. if it means merging or closing forums, i'm all for it. if it comes down to it, i would take on the entirety of the PSU forums and merge them with TU - or close TU and tell everyone to come back here.

edit: also, sharing a computer with triggar can be staggeringly confusing.

Sounds good to me. Changing it would be a bit less confusing, simply for initial reactions from non-community members. A plus side would be that we would likely have forums fro specific games, if they are popular enough, instead of having all that stuff going into the lounge.

I don't even know WHAT the TU forums are, it's not PSU, thus it's not something I am interested in.

If PSU goes away and a new forum comes in its place, as just a general gamer forum, I would be all for that, donate as needed and the like.

But to keep it from exploding apart, perhaps we should have a bunch of separate game forums (EVE, WoW, PlanetSide, CSS, etc) a Lounge (as currently) but most importantly a Flame forum where flamers can go ahead and be whatever dickheaded assholes they want. Any thread with drama in the Lounge will get moved into that forum. Something along these lines would need to be done to prevent the drama from just coming back like a plague.

Well there would only be a forum, the only thing that would change to start would be the domain and the forum header, then we would take it from there. The site costs would be limited much more because we would be bringing a server offline and cutting the bill quite a bit.

As for the drama breaking me, it was a combination of drama money and other things that all came together. Sure if we go into a new format it would die as well after a while - but at least it would not be dead at the end of the month.

I would also put more co admins in place so that it's more of a team effort, not that it isnt a team effort now but it would help to have some more hands ;)

Peace you get chutzpah points from me for saying what i've been thinking. In my mind its pretty much like the people who were the cause of all the "drama" got the site shut down, and then set themselves up to run the successor.
