At my school they are getting so common its absurd. Last year I saw one about once a week. Now I literally cant get through a class with out seeing at least 3. Is PSU similarly infested?

Most of my friends own one. Being the poor bast. that I am, I am now saving up for one. Will have enough in < 2 months.

I don't get why iPods are the most popular kinda MP3 player. They aren't special in anyway. They are like bricks. I hear they don't support .wma. Not a big deal since the most popular is mp3, but i bet there's been a few ppl out there who were like "wtf?!" when they d/led a wma and it didn't work. Rio Nitrus 4 teh win! 1.5 gig - perfect ammount, not too much ( like 40gig, who the f*** would want 40 gigabytes? no point)/Stylish and non-brickish/userfriendly software and onscreen display/affordable =]!

do it. it's 200% worth it. You'll never ever ever come close to regretting it. Especially if you have alot of music. Seriously they're awesome.

ipodds are quite cheap compared to most other mp3 players and i have proof: (all money is in CAD) iPod mini=4gb=1000=alot of hours of music=$350 other MP3 player=256mb=64 songs= 5.5 hours of music=$210 now, to get 4gb of space on other MP3 player as iPod, you ust do further math
Multiply 256 by 15, now you have 4GB, then you must multiply 210 by 15, and that comes out to be $3000, which is $2500 more than an iPod mini, and $2300 than an iPod Photo with 60 GB space, you decide which is of better value

I have an iRiver and I really like it. Compared to an ipod it is kinda ugly though it has advantages.

Its got a remote with an LCD, atleast the old non color one does. It plays a ton of different music files, and if it doesn't you can download codecs and install them. You can even use the thing as an external harddrive. My friend has a really shitty comp and he uses his as the comps harddrive. The iRiver battery also lasts longer than the ipod's.

Except Ipods are $100 USD more expensive than most other Hard Drive MP3 players. My 30gb ZEN has 10 more gb of storage, and better sound quality(it's made my creative after all) yet only cost $200 or so. 20gb Ipods are $300.

Can something have better sound quality if it plays the same file type? Assuming it has the same exact headphones.

Everyone ahs one, i want one just because I'm sick of making burned cd's for my stereo and then my cd player (one has to be regular cd, then another an mp3 cd), i just want to plug my speakers to my ipod and then it'll be fine. But everyone has then so i dont want to look like everyone but then i do want one.

I know i'll carry a laptop around school, it'll be the new thing!!!!

yes, to a point, the creative player will have less noise in it's playback because of it's 96Db SNR. It plays louder without distortion

iRiver iHP 120. The leather case is a nice touch.

By the way as I was leaving school today I noticed the sheer number of ipods. I swear, everyone either got a cellphone or a ipod this year for christmas. There are more and more trendy fuckshits everywhere I look.

I love my iPod. I used to have some type of 40gb iRiver. It stopped working the 2nd week I had it and I got my baby. I like the iPod much better. The iRiver had some cool(but in most cases unnecessary) features, but in my opinion it pales in comparison to my iPod. have over 2.5 days of music so far and it isn't even 1/4 full!

I've been looking at the Creative Zen Touch, and have decided it looks damn good. I have but one question: does it play AAC files? (my entire digital music library is stored as .AACs)

Neon Apocalypse
2005-01-11, 04:52 PM
AAC is owned by apple so im not sure, they may have a codec for it, and the zen may be able to install codecs, the iriver can, but i dunno

I HATE iPods, and when I say that i really do mean it. What is so good about them? Please, someone explain that to me. I own an iriver H320 and I can tell you something, it is NO comparision to the iPod. I prefer not to call it a HDD player, but a media player. Everyday while I'm travelling on the train, I look around and see all those people with iPods. I just laugh  . Sometimes I'll sit down next to one of them and play some videos, they will wither stare in amazement or give me an evil look at change seats.
Anyone out there who is considering buying an iPod please STOP! Take a look at the H 320/340 and see what you could be missing out on :D I LOVE MY IRIVER, IT IS THE BEST!

No - I'm not a trendwhore who will purchase a product because it's in fashion.

If I do decide to purchase a hard drive based mp3 player, I'll look into the best one that I can afford with the best features, instead of getting a terrible sounding player with crappy headphones, no replaceable battery and software that I HAVE to use.

All those examples are out of the box, you can change the headphones - at extra cost, you can replace the battery - at the loss of your warranty, you can have terrible sound - because it is and you can have itunes and stuff it up your arse, as it's shite.

A good ripoff of ipod.

Yeah, because an ipod is a ripoff of a Diamond Multimedia Rio PMP300, which in turn is a ripoff of a Eiger Labs MPMan F10/F20 (two variants of the same device). The ipod isn't the first hard drive based mp3 player, so don't go and say things are a ripoff of it.

Buying an ipod doesnt mean your a trendwhore, plenty of people aside from teens have them, because they are great devices. I bought one my self in 2003 ive had very few problems with it.
