First of all I know flying in PS is not like a simulator but, I was thinking can you do a flip in a air vehicle? If not do you think it would be a cool feature to have?

The flight model is suppoded to be like Tribes 2. I havent played that so I dont know the answer to your quesrion, but if you have played it, than it will probably be like that. Happy boating!

yeah you can flip in tribes 2 but that almost always means your not going to survive :D

I was thinking of an idea that you are piloting a galaxy with two mosquitos on your tail and you continue to fly until you get near a cliff or mountain and pull straight up and the mosquitos are trashed... :)

What do you mean we arnt quite shure? You have played it and know but refuse to tell us. meany.... Why wont you tell us? I know it might change, but it would still be great to know. If you signed an agreement or something than thats ok, but if you diddnt, than share the love man!

Its not worth my commenting on it and creating some kind of an uprising. I know it was still in a tweaking process, and I feel its best for us to wait and see. :|

I thought I remember either Rogue or Dave say that the flight craft could not be inverted.

Wait a sec, I just read Hamma's post more carefully. "start some kind of an uprising"? That can't be good. Are the flight controld that bad?

They need to get it like BF1942's model: easy to crash if you're not careful, but not so difficult that it's frustrating. Ok, maybe a LITTLE easier than that, but still hard enough to have a good chuckle at all the n00bs crashing.

Don't go digging for hidden meaning into Hamma's post....
Anyhow, I would guess that you can't flip, since all references to flying sounds like you can't bank, and adjusting altitude is just a straight up and down adjustment, not a bank up or down.

It would be nice if the flight controls for smaller craft were like BF1942 but for larger transports I think it needs to be much like T2. T2 was pretty simple for flying but you didn't crash as often when transporting people. Need to focus more on getting your people there in one piece than how cool it is to fly them there.

I wouldn't mind a flight system similar to Aces High.

There is no hidden meaning Einstein. Back a few months ago when I made a false comment on certs there was all sorts of debate (again).
I don't want to be responsible for that :p

That's basically what the T2 flight model is. BF1942 has a bit more of a complicated flight model. You can pull tighter maneuvers in BF1942 but in T2 you couldn't. You can't do barrel rolls in t2 but in bf1942 you can. In T2 when you invert your craft it will start to auto-right itself back to it's normal position. Think of it this way, T2 flight model is more for getting you to a place in one piece. BF1942 flight model is more for aerial dogfights and land attacks.
It's pretty simple but you can still do some cool things. People will get more creative with it as the game progresses.

I still say it'd be cool if they treated the aircraft like helicopters and hitting forward tilted your craft forward, thus making the force holding you in the air be pointed backwards and angling your nose down, and hitting left tilts you left, etc. It allows a lot more flexibility, and it's super-fun to use, but it's mad hard to get used to.

The apache helicopter in Desert Combat mod for BF1942 is like that. It's extremely hard to play with a mouse and keyboard so I need to get my joystick back from my friend.

I see the way flight is done in PS to be like it is done in C&C Renegade.... Not that good, but it is still fun =)

I can see some virtues to simplifed flight, but I'd still love to pull an inverted loop and scoff at the ground forces trying to shoot me down as I buzz them so close that they can see my character model in the cockpit.

oh ya, i think that flight should not be easy to master, easy to use, but hard to master... loops inverted flight, etc.... all very good. I jsut dont think that it will be very advanced at all..... more like a buggy that can go up and down too.....

Now that I think about it, I know exactly what the flight model reminds me of...snowspeeders in Star Wars games (that's the only comparison I have since I never played Tribes 2). Suddenly I'm not so bothered by it all, though if they put more complex flight in down the line I'd be really happy, heh. I'm kind of worried about the handling though, anyone know how fast a mosquito is compared with a reaver or a galaxy? Or maybe in relation to a ground vehicle? Do they have tight turning radii? Perhaps someone who's played the game? <HINT HINT> :)

Apparently it's pretty quick because it's obviously smaller, less armored and has less armaments. I doubt the flight model is going to be extremely simple but it's not going to be as intense as BF1942's. We won't know all the details so we'll just have to wait patiently.

I'm really concerned about it, flying things is usually one of the best parts of these vehicle FPS games. I hope they make it at least complex enough to support banked turns, don't need barrel rolls and loops and all that jazz, but there should at least be yaw and banking. If the banking is limited to a certain degree, like maybe only able to bank 70 degrees in each direction or something so people can't turn upside down that'd suit me just fine.

Yeah, that's about all we can do. I'd still really like to know though. :)
