Nope, they've always held out the possibility for more battle ranks.

I've always thought 20 provided more than enough.

Merits are the better idea.

Sorry to be the thorn in this idea but well here goes. As it stand we every BR20 is An army of one with a tank and a HA and whatever else he wants in-between the cracks. Add these 3 more ranks and we will have walking Arnolds for a lack of a better term. Sigh I might have lost it and I might be just flinging shit but its my two cents.

Three more certs won't do much. Besides, we started with 20 certs, but then they added probably about 20 certs of vehicles to the game. And they said some certs are having their cost increased too (BFRs, Uni-MAX, Air Cav), with more certs being modified as well. I think BR23 is no big deal at all. I am not particularily excited about this, as I don't care about gaining BR nor do I have any amazing plan for my extra 3 points.

Vehicles got pooled together, Uni-MAX, Spec Assault and AV got pooled. Now you say you don't get enough for your 23 cert pts?

BR23 is gay! No room for specialization and we'll have Arnolds and Biffers all over.

Special Assault and AV didn't get pooled. Decimator was made AV instead of Special Assault, that's it. And yes, a couple vehicles got pooled, but so what, who actually certed in both the Sunderer and Deliverer? The shitty vehicles nobody used were made a bit more economical, but overall more certs were added than combined.

This Rambo hyperbole stuff is retarded.

The only certs I can come to think of is BFR and Flail.

A increase of 4 pts compared to the big pool of points.

However I've read that some certs gets a increase in points.

Such as BFR, Aircav and Uni-MAX. Which I welcome.

But before you had to choose, now you have to choose less or even choose what you don't want.

It was enjoyable when we started PS and shouted in sanc for 15 min that we needed medic, galaxy pilot, MAX etc. But now its just random invites and noone specializes unless there is a specific reason for it(like outfit wish/demand)

I wish the exp that BR20s have already earned would be retroactive.

I wish the exp that BR20s have already earned would be retroactive.

When I first read it I thought that too. Then I thought about and realized that would defeat the purpose. People are whining that there is nothing to do after br20. So what would be the purpose of just turning them into br23 instead of letting them work towards it now.

This is not a good direction, especially considering SamHayne says more are on the way.

What ever happened to alternate advancement? I would much rather have elite abilities instead of three extra ranks.

He's got a ton of stuff to do between now and the alternate advancement stuff. This is good for the interim.

So I guess you wont be needing medics anymore.

A fourth impalnt you say!? SURE! Why the fuck not!

This game is officially RAMBOside ladies and gentlemen. This is what I was talking about earlier and this is why I left PS.

Wtf kind of logic is that!?! (Although me might not) He'll probably become another medic helping everyone around not denying the support group a reason to cert in it.

Yea, I agree no 4th implant

Yea, I agree no 4th implantMy point is the only person he'll be healing is himself. Because just about everyone now can cert as medic. So therefore you won't be needing the help of other medics and this will encourage players to go solo spraying away with thier heavy assualt weapons.

Players don't have specific roles on the battlefield anymore. This is killing teamwork.

I think a new uniform color would be in order here but I doubt they added one.

I do wish they would have released alternate advancement instead, but one thing I heard very often in the beginning was they did not want a player who had been playing for a long time, to have access to things a new player couldn't get. Now, someone new to the game can get a Reaver and do just as good as a Vet with a reaver. I like this feature, keeps things fair. If they add things that make Vets have an unfair advantage, I'm not sure how exciting that would be. :(

Who at BR20 doesn't already have medical and engineering? I mean, really now. Anyone who seriously plays infantry has these certs. That's just all there is to it. You cannot be effective as an infantryman unless you have the self-sufficiency these certs provide you.

While there are people who only repair/heal themselves (and I hate them and send /ts scoudling them when they walk past my spamming ass) I repair and heal everyone I see with damage on them, he isn't absolutely gonna become a self server, but I don't know

3 extra certs arent gonna make anyone thats br20 any more supersoldier-ish. those at 20 can have rexo, HA, AV, P-Sheild, med and eng. thats 18 certs with 5 left over to spend anywhere. hows the 3 more gonna really make you better. i thing most people will use them for some support certs like adv medic, and air support. I always have a support cert but had to sacrifice something i like to have it. with the new additions, i dont have to give up my galaxy to cert an ams or adv hacking.

some people are so annoying to not look at the positive side of the recent improvements, just only as the slight negative effects. i bet the same ones that hate this patch bitched about the bfr's and 90% of the other patches as well. i like where planetside is going and although it had a few bumps here and there, i'll be here for another year or more to see what other surprises they come out with.

This is in no way killing teamwork. Teamwork is a squad a mossies gunning down 3 galaxies. Teamwork is hacking out 4 scattermaxes in a spawn room at the same time. Teamwork is covering the advanced hacker while he resecures the base.

I have engie and medic, and if I see that something needs healing, I'll heal it. That's not really teamwork, that's me fulfilling my role on the battlefield. If someone chooses not to heal other players, three more cert points won't change their actions. That's selfishness killing PlanetSide, not BR 23.

You cannot be effective as an infantryman unless you have the self-sufficiency these certs provide you. You'd be surprised how many have forgone medic for some other vehicle/weapon certs. Being a support whore, I'm often healing/repairing and reviving folks.

As for the teamwork problem mentioned earlier, that would depend on the folks you play with. I play TR on Markov and our outfit belongs to an alliance of several outfits. We make sure a medic or two and a couple engies are along for all missions .. and attack as a team. I also heal/repair those I come across .. even if they aren't in our alliance.

The ones I like are those that holler for help but continue to run amuk .. I ain't chasin' yer butt. :p

I think that these recertifications and additional Battle Ranks, will only keep the BR 20's in PlanetSide for 6, maybe 7 months or so. Unless they add something else soon, possibly that new vehicle coming out soon (I forget the name of it), PlanetSide will lose nearly all of it's influence within 6,7 months. That's just my opinion on this. This new patch will keep me playing for a while though, good idea by the devs.
