There adding in tournament mods, implemented br 23,
made atv 1 cert, are implementing merits, there fixing needed-to-be-fixed bugs,
And adding in a better lattice system thats sexily awesome
Jesus Christ It's almost as if the original developer was a fat fucking idiot who didnt care and just wanted money. And then its like they kicked him out and put in a person who realizes Planetside's potential, and is doing everything everyones always wanted

and its awesome, expecially with atv
and the new vehicle balances

Yeah, no need to rail on Smokejumper. He did a lot of good stuff, and he did his best. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before Sam does something many people don't approve of (BFR balance aside).

I, being gone for the last 3-4 weeks, have no idea whats going on. What happened to smokejumper?
Anyway.. its good reading these few posts. I got sucked into Anarchy Online for a while, but I will be comimg back soon!
Too bad I moved to the most bleak and internet-less place on the east coast.
Is it really worth it? Is it fun? Should I re-subscribe and join you all again? or stay playing anarchy online?

He left SOE on good terms to pursue other things.
SmokeJumper is a designer to the core, that's what he does and that's what he loves. He's off designing some other great game I'm sure we'll love to play.

I'm concerned that Desolation is going to be infantry only? Maybe I misread that. I thought Desolation was designed for tank battles!

Some balance changes, including
A few BFR tweaks, based off the recent changes.
Address the Switchblade�s ammo (or lack thereof)
Slight AV MAX buff
I�ll post more on these balance changes separately.
A whole lotta fixings, including:
World: Corrected an issue that would allow players to enter an enemy sanctuary.
Armor: Infiltration Suit: Appears visible after exiting a Switchblade, Ancient Sentry Turret, Flail or Router.
UI: Keymaps: Keymaps change when a new patch is downloaded
UI: Map: Map Legend shows the Monolith icon for a Lattice Logic Unit.
UI: Character Statistics: Kill stats: Thunderer is missing from the vehicle list
UI: Character Info: Stats: Info for Terminals, Generators and Spawn tubes destroyed does not update
UI: Certification Terminal: Countdown appears in the form of 00:00 when there is less than an hour left.
UI: Advanced Medic: Revive Ability: When player having 120 hitpoints is revived, they return with only 100 hit points.
Vehicles: ANT: Enabled the ANT to resupply a neutral unhacked base
Vehicles: The ANT now deploys from inside the vehicle
Vehicles: ANT: Destroyed ANT resupplies base after ANT deployer respawns
Vehicles: ANT: ANT undeploys if neutral base that it is supplying is secured.
Vehicles: Skyguard: Steering wheel rotates along the wrong axis
Vehicles: Aircraft: afterburn can cause flight vehicles to appear to move erratically when seen by other players
Vehicles: Corrected and issue that could cause weapons fire after repairing vehicle
Vehicles: Sound: Vanguard: The 20mm Sound effect continues even when the gunner is firing shells.
BFR: Aphelion: Laser weapon does not have damage degradation.
BFR: Aphelion: Corrected issue leading to the Aphelion Laser's not displaying past 70m range
BFR: Aphelion: Reduced the particle effect of the Plasman Mortar to lessen possible framerate impact when multiple burns are displayed.
BFR: Corrected and issue where the Flight variant capacitor recharge rate was different when walking versus flying
BFR: Changed the shield �flash� display to not play continuously at some damage levels.
Implant: Range Magnifier: hitting ZOOM and ESC multiple times can cause stamina to drain forever
Implants: Sometimes do not activate until after you die
Implant Icons: Icons on the "Character Info" window do not update properly if a player logs off before initialization is complete
CTD fix when a Colossus Burster fires between two enemy flight vehicles
CTD issue where decals were released while still referenced
Weapon: Striker: Circles around turrets in Tracking mode.
Facilities: IFF Door Locks: Unhacked IFF Locks sometimes open for enemies.
Facilities: Fixed an issue that was keeping the silo warning claxons from being heard when buildings are low on resources.
Facilities: Tech Plant: Vehicles deconstruct when parked under the air vehicle pads
Facilities: NTU Silo: NTU Silo appears orange when it is filled.
We also plan to run a Monlith style, CTF event in version 3.3 that will lead to a change in the lattice structure. We are now looking to run this event the first weekend in February
AV MAX:
20% increase in projectile speed to better hit moving targets at range
10% increase in damage against armor
Currently testing actual Time to Kill of AV MAX vs. AV MAX with the intent to tweak them to be roughly even across empires.
Slight increase of TR Pounder MAX effectivness against infantry

Smoke was great, PS has been great IMO always ever scence the begining, I'm sad that my computer died right when things were getting realy good and i lost interest over that month, and the PS part of BH died.
Without my 'fit i don't realy care to play :(

SmokeJumper's track record is actually pretty good.
Considering it's SOE, I give the guy the benefit of the doubt in that he probably didn't want to make Core Combat.
More of a "You must push out an expansion pack, 4 months into the game! And we don't care what it does to the playerbase!"

PS started going downhill with CC...maybe Smoke's hands were tied, but he could of at least made it worth the effort.

I just watched a video a guy had in his sig on the OF. It made me remember the days before BFR's and CC... There was one SS in paticular that made me had the devs. The picture of an outdoor infantry battle, no vehicles there, no biffers, no air, only infantry. Those were the days.

Get ready for these new Battle Island changes :)
I've been gone for some months (been playing City of Heroes). I decided to check out the planetside website for kicks and noticed that they added 3 more BRs and the merits finally went live. And like Sadinius said, it as if the DEVs couldn't care less about what was wrong with the game. After reading the forums and bugs that are going to be fixed I quickly resubbed and now my first goal is to get the sniper merit. See you all on the battlefied.

With all the changes I guess I could say planetside is doing ok (exept for the BFRs ofcourse). Really, before CC everything was pretty nice and smooth...But after they brought those flails...jeez
The brightest new addition (or should I say change) are the battle islands indeed...With the new infantry rules its gonna be inf ownage :p But hell I don't know much about PS now, so many changes and so many new people whining on the forums "OMFG IT$ LIEK T3H BFRzz!!"
(Haven't played for a year, don't mind :p)

woah woah, when did this patch come out, is it all speculation or is it on live?
i've been MIA from PS since about CC release time. I'm tempted to come back, b/c WoW isnt' satisfying my hunger to shoot stuff, so someone fill me in on what some of the latest (awesome) changes are?
any new "end game" stuff? Did they fix the fps and memory leaks?

There are Merit Commendations to earn, Samhayne is looking at giving people a way to further advance/specialize themselves, and the performance of the game has increased a lot.
