So I am tired of getting stuck every 15m in my focus, its time for a new mfing car(truck) to become mine. So if you were in the market for an SUV or a truck what would you get? Keep in mind I refuse to buy anything foriegn unless its luxury or exotic (2 thinks that dont work for the budget) so don't even bother suggesting it :p

I have a little Chevy S-10 I'm fairly happy with save for the only 2 seats thing. In the winter i have to throw some sandbags int he back, but thats not a big deal.

I don't know what your budget is but you could always go for dodge magnum:
FEATURES
* Unique 18'' aluminum wheels
* 340-horespower 5.7L HEMI V8 engine
* Extreme access rear liftgate
* AWD system componentry for exceptional handling
* 5-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick
It's basicly a sports truck with good looks and a closed cabin with lot's of power and it goes for 30k (the one mentionned the V6 version goes for 22k without any HEMI).

Otherwise you can go with the basic RAM 1500.

The Subaru WRX is were it's at man, allwheel drive and quite fast, not quite a truck but it can handle, in terms of of any street driving in any conditions, what a truck can.

Get a real SUV.

Just be careful going on to The Loop Connector on Memorial Day, rolling over in to traffic is no fun.
Seriously though. I hate new "SUVs". They are just tall, crappy mexican built "American" Cars.
A 79 K5 with a 454 should do well, or a Suburban.
Well, I can tolerate one slightly newer SUV, The late 90's Tahoe SS. They fucking own.

I suggest the Nissan Titan. It beat the Ford series out in many important areas.

I suggest the Ford or Tundra but since you wont buy foreign go with Ford. I hear bad things about the Titan, cheap interior ect.

Dodge Durango. Don't get the new one unless you get the HEMI (an extra 4 grand).
I drive a 2002 and I've taken that fucker to hell and she brought me back. And so far the only maintenance issues I've had were a flat tire (which I suspect was inflicted and not accidental), and my rear wiper blade came off in a rainstorm because the bolt somehow wasn't on all the way.
I get around 450 miles on a 23-gallon tank when I drive long distance. I get about 375-400 depending on how badly I stomp the accelerator - which, I do a lot because I like the ability to go from zero to sixty in seconds. Drive in Maryland and you know what I mean.

Here is what me and Jen are looking at now:

I like it.. nice interior, nice looks to it. Most SUV's now look like they are plastic, this one actually looks really slick. One model has the 6 disk changer w/premium 6 speaker sound :brow:

If you're looking for a nice, good truck, go with a Chevy Z-71.
If you'd like a more sensible truck but still not get stuck, go with a 4x4 Chevy S-10.
I currently drive an '01 Dodge Ram 1500 extended cab w/ a v8 magnum in it. It's good, but has given me a little engine trouble along the way. Chevys, even though I like Ford and have owned an 04 mustang gt, make the best trucks.

With two 5.7-liter 335-HP V-8 engines - HEMI squared - the Hurricane travels from a stand-still zero MPH to 60 MPH in less than five seconds, said Chrysler CEO Dieter Zetsche.
The concept, which bows here at the North American International Auto Show, features split solid axles, with a V-8 at each end of the truck. It has a mechanically controlled four-wheel torque distribution system.
Hurricane has the unusual ability to spin on its axis -- Chrysler calls it a "turntable feature." It also has four-wheel steering to help out if it gets "between a rock and a hard place," Zetsche said.

Compare the two and you will see it is not an explorer. It uses the same body, frame etc but the guts are not the same. And it doesent look plastic. It's got much better features than the ford side vehicle.
Actually its not even using the explorer frame, one of the smaller ford SUV's :p

escape.
but realy does it have to be a truck, you could go much faster and in IMO much better style with one of these (http://www.subaru.com/servlet/showroom?track=topnav_s&command=overview&webModelName=IMPREZA&modelYear=2005&webTrimName=WRX_SEDAN)
now don't get me wrong SUV's are cool, my family(rather me and my dad) need one for some rough roads we come accross when we go camping ect. But we have a Subaru forester and that car is quite fun to drive, and no conditions phase it except for maybee 3 foot high bolders

Oh my bad, the picture didn't loo familiar.
I don't like the Escape though...too 'CRV' for me heh.
I think Nissan is your best bet. Mercury is a bad car, they have a history of engine failures. Cadallac is crap now, and the Ford escape is a death trap. The F-150 is a good ford model, but I would not buy a SUV from them. If you could find an 03 Pathfinder, I know you would like it. The new models look to much like explorers, they made them bigger to compete with the monsters. I have a black 03 Pathfinder SE and I love it. So far I have not had any trouble and it just looks cool. Anyway, whatever you do don't but a chevy.
