I'm trying to play a few different games on my dad's LAn network at work, and I can't play any games(like Soldat, can't try PS because it's not my computer) and I tried downloads from FilePlanet, but it says there's a network error. Is it possible that the LAN is blocking the ports needed for these things? If so, is there any way to bypass? Thanks!

I don't think its that, they have to be blocking the ports, because I did a ping test on Emerald through MS-CommandPrompt, and it said it timed out... But I wouldn't know how to access Access Control lists anywho... Oh well, I'll try to look for it and see if I can get it to work. Thanks for the help!

You wont be able to touch the ACL's unless you have a very good understanding of networking. I would not advise you messing with them for the following reasons:

1. You most likely dont even have the pw for the router
2. YOu dont have the pw for command promt in the router
3. Do you know how to write a ACL?
4. You can totaly mess up your dads works LAN
5. do you even know what hyper terminal is ?

Ya unless you can do all of that then i would not advise you messing with it and just stick to playing planetside at home

You could do the following and i could help: open up a dos promt on a computer within your dads LAN. Type in arp -a and ipncofig; these will tell me the gateway addy which is also the router S1 or E1 port. With that you can telnet into the router and from there you can use password recovery which will allow you to bypass the routers passwords. Also you will be able to open up any ports therefore after by writing an ACL which i might do if i get all the information. This is done by doing a "show run" in config t mode. and show version in the same mode.
