I hoping if this qu. gets around enough it might get to someone who knows or who could possibly consider it for the game.
Anyway i was wonder if this is how the scoring sytem would or could work.
When you kill somebody with something much more powerful like a tank kills 4 guys in one shot and a guy shoots 4 people with some crapy pistol will they both get 4 points. Becuase if so why bother using a lower gun when a TANK or PLANE will get you the same points faster and better. Feel free to pass the qu. around and make the point scoring point i used if you want.

First of all, there is not a "lower gun", certifications in certain weapons do not make them better. So if someone in a tank kills 4 guys in 1 shot, then someone in an infl. suit kills 4 guys while taking no damage. And the reaver rapes the tank, the game is balanced or will become balanced after beta, so saying that just using a pistol where you could use a tank is illogical. Everything is equal. it is based upon skill.

What Fire_Monkey said, and besides, if you want to play this game just so you can play another game of I got better kill/death ratio than j00!, then you won't get the most outta this game.

Yeah there will be people who only drive tanks, only drive reavers. But personally im gonna just be your basic guass weilding infantry and hopefully a badass one.
then again the thought of not being see or heard and sneaking up on someone with my mag cutter... interesting. Ill probably have 2 chars.

How about 4, you can always experiment

I have to disagree guys. I think it will be easier to kill people if you are in a tank or vehicle of some sort. What's to stop the guy who plays in a reaver all day from getting more points because he is capable of more mayhem than the guy who always plays on foot and carrys a rifle??

Its called the AA MAX. Thats what is gonna stop that

uhm... and what keeps the guy wearing the max from getting a much higher score than the guy with a rifle?? (This actually isn't an issue for me, since I will just be a better shot and will be able to keep up by continuing to kill people while others are respawning... but since it was brought up, I figure I'll go with it :))

you can always ride along in most vehicles, and you don't have to be certified to blow anyone away who is stupid enought to get in the way, unless it's an engineer with a big boomer...this leads back to me proving that infantry units won't be raped. Plus only newbs will be running around with basic weapons, and can always gun for something if they feel like it.

You guys care about scores? Annyways, the devs has stated that they will keep a very detailed record of everything your char does, from the number of times he's blown himself up whit a grenade, to the things hes killed, friendlies he has killed, enemies, tanks, planes etc....
There won't be your normal scoring system in the game tho... can't hit tab and see the kills/deaths of your entire empire hehe.

WTF! Scores??? This aint Quake! Your scores are going to be shown on the continent map - how many bases you own!
If you want stats, I guess they'll be shown on your stats page - deaths kills TKs grief points etc etc.
Like Zatrais says there'll be no scores that you can view by pressing tab.

I've assumed that by scores he meant stats. Does anyone know if they'll keep track of not only what you killed, but a general state of how you killed it?? I mean like on foot kills, ground vehicle kills, aircraft kills?? That'd be an odd (and difficult) thing to keep track of, but it'd be interesting.

There is going to be a ton of stat tracking. Thats all I know, dont have a ton of details on it ;P

Thats not my point. Im saying according to the score the guy who was able to sneak up to 18 guys and shot them to death with a bloody pistil will be over looked just because some guy was able to fly up in a reaver and kill a bunch of guys and take out the AA and it was a lot easier for him to get those points. So everyone looks at the kid with 18 kills in a revear when they should really look at the kid with the 18 kills withy a pistol. Last thing i need is a game with no infantry to kill and just tanks. Aint 1942 ya know what i mean?

That's why I wonder if they will track your favorite weapons. I know of sites that do this for other games, so I don't see it as being a problem. Then you could see that, yeah, one guy has more kills than the other, but he used a reaver 85% of the time, while the other guy used a pistol 89% of the time.

Scores mean nothing as far as im concerned.
Edit : Things like teamkill:enemykill ratios would be usefull, but the only thing i see scores for are gloating.

Thanks for adding that to the discussion. I appreciate it.
*edit* ah, your edit that you did while I was posting is better :)

1 last say. Wouldn't you feel just a but pissed that if you spent 5 minutes sneaking up behind a tank using the little explosive you had and killed that tank in your base that killed 30 men and recieve the same amount of points as someone who shoot some guy running away cause he was half dead. Wouldn't you be a little pissed?

Mark, did you read anything? Score isn't super-important. Are you going to look for a Galaxy pilot with 200 kills? Or maybe one with no grief points. They don't stop the game and say "Wow UberSlayer, you got 100000 kills in your Reaver." Just don't worry about it.
MarkHawk

Oh i read but its not the score im worried about. its the bitchs that only want vehicals the ones who never will do there job because all they want it a stupid Airplane. I want people to be rewarded for doing harder jobs beside a pat on the back. Because people will always do that no matter what you think this game will do there will be hundreds of Noobs just standing around waiting for a plane before they fight or something. i just want the points to be fair even if they dont count to you they count to me.

if you have a problem with a tank, air or a max, jsut grab a Phoenix, and say hi :D Have a problem with Phoenixs? Just grab some cloaking dudes, and say hi :p Having a problem with cloaking dudes... jsut grab some anti inf max, and vision, and stop em, having a problem with the anti inf max, grab a tank... have a problem with a tank, grab air, Phoenixs, another tank, anti tank max, having a problem with ............
Everything can be overcome. There is no spoon :D

Different jobs will score differently in different areas. A MAX pilot is not going to be very high up on the # of bases hacked list.

Somehow i think you're going to get alott more BEPs from blowing up a heavy tank than killing a infantry man.....
Lillemanden
2003-02-17, 10:50 AM
You get grief points for destroying a friendly vehicle, so I would guess you would get BEP's for destroying a enemy vehicle plus the BEP's for killing the driver (plus passengers and gunners).
StaticFusion
2003-02-17, 11:09 AM
The people in the area of the kill get the same amount of BEP for the kill as if they killed the player themselves. So MAX's will most likey be BEP Cows since they will be in the middle of it all.
