Never a mortar but ive seen attached grenade launchers that can be loaded with paintballs and shot like buckshot lol. Also seen the rocket launchers they use too.

grenade launchers use paint grenades. basically they are just tubes filled with paint and when it hits the ground, the pin comes off and the tube spins and paint comes flying out.
