Im looking into buying a guitar and learning how to play. I have been told that its best to start learning on an acoustic. I dont have a price in mind at the moment and just wanted to see what you guys recommend for beginners.

well for beginners i would reccomend an acoustic, once you get a little better get a gibson, the best there is, if you wanted to spend a lil more money get a fender, and remember takes a lot of practice. and be like me, learn smoke on the water as your first song.

Learn easy songs first. 7 Nation Army is a fine example of a ridiculously easy song. Try to get a good teacher, too. One that you like to have teaching you, not one that you just tolerate. They can be the pressure that keeps you from dropping it, which really helps, especially when you get to the point where you're decently competant, but there's still a lot of songs you can't play yet. Get a book. Etc.

I know it wont be easy...have alot of friends that play but the unfortunate part is im moving out of state at the end of this month. I got mixed responses...some say just go straight to an electric..others say try and acoustic first. Wanted to try PSU to see what you guys think. Thanks.
