My birthday is comming soon and I want a new video card (for planetside mainly) but I'm no pro with what all the stuff means. All I know is I want 256mb Vid Ram and it to be >$350. I'm also pretty sure I have AGP slots, my friend tells me PCI express is so new that my comp from 2 years ago probably doesn't have it. Any suggestions?

You want to spend more than $350?

I'm going to toss this over to the tech board cause the nerds over there might be able to help you out better. :)

lol i was going to make it here but it said "PC Problems" and it's not really a problem :) also there is NO WAY I can afford that one, it costs more than this pc did when I bought it.

lol fatal... i recommend a geforce FX of any type. get a good one, and dont be afraid to spend bling. dont get a pci express, your computer will croak (it was invented like a year ago). other than that, guess i'll c u on UVF, laters.

Well... you sure you dont want the one frag was refering to? it can run doom 3 on ultra high settings, unlike most video cards...

well it says on the customer reviews it's not a video card for gaming, any way. I'm going for the 9800pro. It's cheap, powerful (enough), and just what I need.

Eh, 9800 Pro is a good card, it really is, but the problem is that in a year or so it will simply be outdated. I've got one myself, and its just starting to pass its prime. Most modern / recently released games I can run on "High" settings, but not completely maxed out like I used to be able to. Go for a 9800 XT minimum, 6600 GT if you want the best bang for your buck currently, or a 6800 or X800/850 if you don't plan on upgrading for a year or so.

I'm not old enough so I don't have the money rolling in for a high end system yet, after I turn 16 my employer is going to be working my ass off... then maybe I'll go for not upgrading for a while products
