View Full Version : Hamma, I have sinned

I think I accidentally became an Uber troll...
Everyone is fighting over religion. And of course this must have began somewhere. I started all this bickering and fighting over religion and what is and what is not true. This all started when a thread openned up titled "What do you think is mans greatest miconception?" or something like that. I stated that I was an atheist and said that I think that the greatest misconception is that god is an irrationality. This was my opinion of what the greatest misconception was, and I wasn't expecting everyone to attack me. shortly after the debating started, eMa started another thread that was meant to be peaceful. Everyone was talking about their views on god, and so did I. However, when I did, everything was fine, but when ABRAX went on and said that it was selfish to sacrifice lives in the middle east in order to sleep easy at night knowing what will happen to you when you die. Then I wrote a little spam post somewhere along the lines of "Hurrah! Another atheist!" because I was happy other people here support atheism. I forgot who, but someone was saying I'm begging to be flamed. I flamed him about how I was simply happy that there was more support towards atheism and that this was a peaceful thread. I think that the thread went on fire after that.
I will give credit to Airlift for saying "You should have read the thread, there's not really any debate. Everyone simply stated their opinions and why they felt the way they do." Then Mr Vicchio started the threads "The purpose of life" and "Deep Thought... Oblivion" where he simply stated some of his thoughts towards the topic. These two threads are now up in flames.
All this was started simply because I stated I was an atheist about a month ago....

uhm... I thnk you give yourself too much credit here... the religion threads would have ended up in end up flame wars even if you were never here.

but there wouldn't be an arguement if I wasn't here. that's what I'm saying

Yeah there would. You think too highly of the rest of us if you think we need you to cause an argument. :) You could have all Christians or all Muslims or all Atheist on this forum and we could still find something in those threads to argue about.

Nah it would have ended up in a big argument anyways because there are always going to be 2 sides to it. People won't agree. You may have made the argument come a bit quicker but it still would have ended up that way. Having philosophical discussions is fine but it really ends up being useless in the end. They are always going to turn into a flame war or just one big heated argument. If that's what you're going for but take lessons from the other million religious based threads.
Should have more threads on current events rather than topics that have been discussed over and over on forums. If your aim is to see which specific people believe in religion and which don't I guess that's your choice to start a thread but it's going to still end up in the same place.

but you can trace all the arguements back to my post. I did it several times.:(
I know that the flaming would have broken out anyways, but everyone was argueing about politics before the religion.

Yeah, but I think the politics debates died down some because they were specifically threatened with nazi action, but religion was not. :)

wrong. they died down because hamma made threats. He didn't mention anything about the religion threads that were going on in the background though

OOOohhhh..you're so special. All atheists are fools. All worshipers are fools. All agnostics are not fools. You probably don't know the meaning of agnostic, even though it's what most atheists really are.

All religious and political threads should be banned this isnt the place for them this is a games site and we can all agree on how great games are so lets keep it within that kind of thing

This is the Lounge. Banning anything (with the exception of porn) is just fucking gay.
Tough shit if you don't like the subject. STFU & STFD. Some people find using their brains to be quite stimulating.

Abrax don't go there.
On that subject though... religious threads are more based on emotions and opinions than hard facts. There can be intelligent conversations focusing on theology but it's alot more fun to see what people think about subjects where most/all of the facts are laid out right in front of them.

I don't mind people argueing over it, but when people go:
OOOohhhh..you're so special. All atheists are fools. All worshipers are fools. All agnostics are not fools. You probably don't know the meaning of agnostic, even though it's what most atheists really are.
that's what I'm worried about

What are you worried about Nohimn? It's simple really. A religious person "believes" without any proof. An atheist "believes" to unbelieve without any proof. An agnostic recognizes that there is no proof. That it is impossible to "know" anything about the existence of God or the essential nature of anything.
Fool: One who has been or is likely to be deceived, imposed upon, or made to look silly.
Hmm..looks like the agnostic is likely the only one of the three who isn't "deceiving him or herself", hasn't been "brainwashed" since birth. Oh..and the agnostic doesn't look silly. Well you sure as hell made yourself look silly if you believe that "you" started the argument..lol.
