No, it's just staff turnover, I mean 2 years is a long time to devote to a game. Welcome to the beginning of the rest of PlanetSide's life :)

CSRDanB should be next, but he should be forced to work for EA.

The game isn't dying, it's maturing

QFT. Spending 2 years as a dev on a project AFTER release is a long time. Many of those guys were there through the development process too, meaning they've been working with PS for over 3 years. In the game industry, after you have several years of experience and a game or 2 under your belt, your chances of getting hired for a signficantly higher-paying position tend to go up. I'm sure Spork, Tom, and T-Ray all got some pretty nice offers for their new positions, and it gives them a chance to get a fresh start on a new project. Despite how much I'm sure they love PlanetSide (I certainly got that impression in Orlando), after a few years they probably want to work on something else. And higher pay is a definate perk as well.

Hopefully their replacements will be veteran PS players themselves with prior development experience. And with PS China going well, and PC Format pulling in new players, hopefully SOE will have the budget to fund the PS team well

Thinking back to Earth and Beyond's death. They still had the team that carried them through beta when they went under.

Yeah but EA bungled Earth and Beyond pretty badly IMO when they remade the development team. I don't forsee Sony doing that. (Or more like, I hope and PRAY that they don't do that.)

If anything Sony have phased out the development team (which is a good idea) and has allowed the newer guys to at least become accustomed to what the team tried to accomplish, and what the PlanetSide community expects.

New blood isnt a bad idea, in fact in brings in new ideas. I think that both parties decided they should move on to new things.

good guy, that TomL. Was it him and Spork/Sam who moderated the forums? I'll cross my fingers that the new guy is as suave as the Tom.

easy to get free xp when its just you. drain a continent, when they are neutral, fill them without rehacking, keep blowing stuff up. did it on searhus one night witha few other guys running ants and lodes. Massive xp till we got bored. We ghosted their cont for so many hours, drained all the bases at least 3 times, got bored, so we hacked all the neutral basess and left. surprisingly, all the hacks went through with no attempt to stop them.
