Some research done by Nexus8 and posted to the OF.

1. The "COF bloom when being shot " which is most prominent on the MCG, is also present on the cycler, repeater, anything empire specific to the TR. We are not convince that this nerf applies to others empires and their weapons, and even other empires which use our weapons. We are calling it "the TR NERF" as it only seems to effect the TR and their use of their weapons. Whatever the true extent of the COF bloom when being shot, we would like it removed on the basis of it simply being unnecessary and unfun, especially when its so damaging to one empire alone. Again, we havent observed this phenomenon in the other two empires, however even if we could have, we wouldnt want it put upon them either... the "feature" *nerf* is
unwelcome and unfun.

addendum, we just verified as TR that the amp, suppressor, decimator, thumper, rocklett riffle and bolt driver also behavoir this way, however, we have not observed the as of this morning the same condition in NC alts or in VS alts. Apparently this nerf effects TR only. Moose reported when fielding a puslar as TR and being shot, that his COF bloomed out sight unlike when his VS alt shot the pulsar while being shot. THis nerf appears to be in effect on the TR only, and any weapon they touch. It doesnt appear to effect the NC or the VS soldiers. Could someone fraps and post this comparing the three empires.?

We are also trying to see if this effect TR maxs as well. Originally we knew this confined to the MCG only, but over the event we more more weapons than normal and became suspicious. We wil be looking at max later today , and now we are wondering if a Terran field vehicle and is hit by incomming fire while firing, does the vehicle whether empire specific or common pool also COF bloom.... if thats case, would simply like the "Terran EMpire nerf" removed. nothing more. We dont even care who did this or why.

addendum 2: we just confirm that Terran Maxs unit when taking fire exprience COF bloom, however other empires maxs dont.

There is pattern here, someone problem implemented this along time ago to nerf down an Terran Republic which was over powered. However since that time, every weapon, max and vehicle has gotten the nerf bat and we are no longer a feared empired.

Bottomline, remove the nerf and the weapons, Maxs and vehicles are fine. they maintain their cof and therefore the benefit of using them. Dont remove the nerf we wil contine stink even with the same common pool the others use.

....and I thought this was contained to the MCG only...geez were we wrong. this is unreally unprofesional on the part of the individuals which decided to due this and leave it for such a long. Whats worse is they probably didnt bother to tell samhayneps about this ( yet another thing gone unmentioned)....ok

Further on in the post, some others tried to replecate this, and found that NC and VS do have a damage bloom, however it is not the same bloome as TR when using the same weapons. So, a NC or VS with a MCG > TR with a MCG due to the TR guy having a huge COF bloom if damaged.

Still no response by devs, and not FRAPS footage, although several folks have stated they are working on doing a FRAPS video to illustrate this.

I've never had any extra problems with MCG as TR, but I have used the cycler on many occasions with my alts and i find it quite a bit different experince.

This is a problem.

I know it sounds nooby but whats this bloom thingy?

the cone of fire bloom is how accurate you weapon fires after holding down the trigger. Basically the longer you hold down the fire button, your shots spread out and are no longer accurate. What this topic says is that even with the same weapons which should fire identically on all empires, they are much less accurate for tr. The tr weapons are the most "blooming" and the other empires are less. if a tr fires a cycler for 20 rounds, their accuracy is noticeably less than if it were a nc or a vs firing the same weapon. this is supported even with common pool weapons like the rocklette rifle and A.M.P to name a few.

This is very disturbing and i have looked into it also with my other characters. I tried a tr on emerald with an mcg and when being hit while firing takes the bloom outragously high but on my nc on markov and vs on werner did not have nearly as much trouble keeping the "bloom" down. I have not recorded this on fraps but just from seeing it in person and knowing that a nc/vs with an mcg or other medium assault based weapon is much more accurate than a tr carrying the same. I could possibly understand the part of tr weapons blooming more than other empire weapons just because of the weapons nature, but it should behave the same in another empire's hands.

The dev's will prolly make some lame story to excuse it and keep this around by saying that," Once the weapon is in a vs or nc's hands, they work out the bugs in them to make them better and TR refuse to change their design because they prefer to stay with their 'old' ways"

I have a hard time believing this, no matter what color my armor is, Im still a demon with the Cycler.

Ya, when im using the mcg its seems just as accurate as when i use it on nc.

I haven't been able to duplicate it with common pool weapons. Tried using a suppressor on my VS and TR toons (using a plasma nade on delay to cause damage). The COF damage bloom was identical for both the VS and TR toon. Haven't been able to do any more extensive testing of this, but from the suppressor standpoint, this theory isn't holding up. Will try to do a cycler and MCG next time out.

Could the author being trying to stir something up? Possible, however he does really seem sincere. At first glance, it looks convincing, however, I haven't duplicated it on the suppressor, so it needs more testing for sure. This may just turn into a case where they are noticing something that isn't true, but since they want it to be true, they are seeing what they want to believe.

Will continue my independent tests and post once I have something more definate.

Some people believe the devs hate the TR/NC/VS so much that they believe that there are stealth nerfs behind every corner.

I've only noticed it when I have high packet loss.......

I am a NC Markov and I use the Cycler whenever I can. Now I have thought for awhile that the COF on it is too big, you fire 15 rounds and then maybe every third bullet hits. I have notice though that when I use a Guass on a TR with a Cycler he barely hits me, and I would know because I use agile. However, if I don't get any shots on him the accuracy is noticably different. I have not done any research other thatn the Cycler though, I dropped heavy assault long ago. (I still have some lashers and MCGs in my locker though.) I have seen similar differences with a TR using a Beamer vs myself, but I havent really looked at it.

Quote from the OF website info page about the Cycler:
"equipped with an enhanced magnification up to 4X, allowing it to effectively target distant enemies."..... Total BS unless you fire one shot at a time.

On a side note I love the Beamer, I'm using it and the Cycler to get my Scavenger merit.

Actually, firing the cycler in short bursts can be effective and has been for a long time. Most of the TR weapons are about controlling the CoF effectively at range and reaping the rewards when close up :)

looks like someone took matters in to their own hands, the result: all bullshit being stirred, just some bitter TR, move along, nothing to see here!

I see no bloom differnce between any empire.

I am glad too see it in video. I was wrong in my interpretations of it but it sure seemed that way. As Jeffey said " nothing to see here, move along"
