Finally! Mediacom is increasing speeds from ~3Mbps to 5Mbps within 90 days.

Yeehaw! Now, if they'd only up our upload rates, I'd be super happy.

hehehe. kinda stupid... increase download speed, to increse the number of downloads, without increasing the bandwidth limt=you go over limit! damn corporations what with their money making schemes.

Congrats on upgrade.

I had 3010 kb/sec dl speed for a week, then a TimeWarner van showed up and said I was draining the bandwidth for the entire area... Now I get like 600 kb/sec, bah.

Man, I wish there was FIOS in Gainesville. 15/5 mbps sure do sound nice!

But I don't have a bad deal - the apartment complex I live in leases a signal off DirectTV and distributes it over the coaxial net for $45 - and they have a 10mbps fiber link of the local telco they they also distribute over coax for an extra $15. So for $15 I get 3/1 mbps, static, COMMERCIAL IP address and no restrictions on bandwidth usage or server hosting :P

i pay for 1.5 mbps and can some times get up to 3 mbps, no bandwidth limit and pretty reliable, and it costs just as much as sympatico, but about 5 times as fast and more reliable. anyways, good deal.
