Finished my exams today, and went to see it with a bunch of friends. Thought it was OK, although some bits were too clich, and the acting wasn't too good here and there.

Loved the special effects, although after reading the book, the movie seemed a little rushed. Did like the movie though, found it better than Episodes I and II.

Any thoughts?

It was awsome. there's nothing more to say because I refuse to discuss star wars... it just gets messy.

bottom line, unless you get dressed up and carry around a light saber to movies, you should love this one.

QFT.

Even when I had to watch it at midnight while half asleep with some guy dressed up as Obi Wan behind me it was awesome.

Haha... I definately thought it was better tahn Episodes I and II. I personally don't think it was as good as Episodes IV, V, or VI, though.

It was amazing compared to I and II, but the originals were certainly better. I have always wondered why he didn't make the others after the original three.

BTW when Vader was reborn in his suite everyone clapped and w00ted.

Really? I thought the post-op scene was pretty lame...

You're weird though. (Not to mention overly critical of everything involving starwars that isn't the original IV, V, VI.)

All in all I thought it was pretty good, sure the acting sucks - its already been established that Hayden Christensen isn't a good actor, ofcourse its pretty hard to act well when you are talking to thin air that will be replaced by a CGI robot-alien-ninja-death-doom-fuckyouall type creature (besides, hes just there to look at anyway - and OOOOHHHH do I look).

Effects and battle scenes were pretty good, but a few of the lightsaber battles seemed too quick. Order 66 scenes were very nice, ending was perfect - very reminiscent of Luke in Episode IV, Tantive IV scenes were nice. All around I would say it ties with my other favorite (Episode VI - I really don't see what people see in Episode V, its long and boring and all it has going for it is the lightsaber duel).

Kinda sad its all over theater-wise really, can't wait for the TV series though.

I have to side with Chewy a bit on this one. I loved the movie except for that one scene when the newly-rebuilt Vader asks about Padme. It wasn't the staggering, that's understandable, but "NOOOOOOOOoooo" is such a cliche line, and doesn't seem like something Vader should be saying. Maybe "What have I done" or "This can't be true..." or something similar.

"What have I done"

He said that after defeating master Windu (sp?) if I remember correctly, what would be the point of him saying it again? :D

yeah thats probably why i thought of it... but I still think "NOOOOOOOOOOoooo" was way cliche

"Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooo!" *Tries to stand again* "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" *breaks off table like hulk* "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo oo!" *all the bottles in the room shatter*

Bah, I admit I'm a bit of an OT Purist... there were a couple of scenes in RoTS that really made me cringe, but I won't name them... Revenge of the Sith comes close to the Original Trilogy, though...

Over all i thought it was preaty good, that acting definently could have been better, I loved watching Yoda kick storm/clone trooper ass "Oh shit, a little green blur just stabed me in the face" I think the only real exception to the bad acting may be Obiwan, he seemed to fit right, some undeniably good guy and yet badass at the same time.

I thought the space battle was preaty cool especialy how things didn't exactaly just explode but the bits kept on traveling forward, including bodies that may have been recently alive inside.

I don't think that kid that plays Anikin(sp?) can act that well at all. Everyone else seems fine.

Its common knowledge that Hayden Christensen can't act. He's eye candy (OMG HOT), and thats about it.

I thought it was awsome. the actor who played anakin was a lot better at being evil in this one

so it is true that most of the story was in the last 30 seconds?

not at all. The story kept going very well with anakin slowly going into the dark side. If you have not seen it, you must.

i will go to see it, but my uncle apparantly said that it was all action until the last part when they rushed all the story, i assumed he was right because he had read the book before hand, but then my uncle can't really say anything good about anything...

Great movie. Could have been 20 minutes shorter, to be honest. Still, an epic. I'd rate it equal with the original trilogy in most aspects.

The initial scene was awesome. They fly the fighters in and I'm wondering if there's going to be a battle. They nose over the destroyer, and it's just... OMGWTFHUGEBATTLE.

Grevous was awesome, indeed. I liked the weezing. It was also pretty cool seeing everything start to make the engineering jumps towards Imperial gear.

I admit I got a little misty eyed towards the end, watching it all fall apart.

One scene I wanted to see a little more of was the Wookiee D-Day with the Droids on the beach.

I liked it. It wrapped up nicely and seems to transition into episode IV pretty seamlessly. The visual effects and scenery were simply amazing as well.

I thought it was great, it was very dark (to be expected) I didnt get misty eyed near the end but it was kind of sad watching everything slowly fall apart.

Overall great movie, blows the other 2 completly out of the water,

To be honest I was quite disappointed with the shortness of the battle scenes, there was like a minute or perhaps less of footage in the kashyyyk battle, which was hyped up in the commercials, I was really expecting alot more, and the first battle scene left quite a bit to be desired aswell. I thought of this pretty hard, and I have come to the conclusion that for every time they could have had a sweet battle sequence, dogfight, land campaign, whatever, they had a 30 second segment of Padm or Anakin looking sad or acting emo. I think they should have developed the campaigns on other planets aswell, we only see a few of them breifly but then thats it, nothing else. I honestly beleive that episode III could have, and should have been divided into two movies. There was a lot of content to fit in there, and it seemed like it was crammed.

ChewyLSB
2005-05-24, 07:43 AM
Well the reason it was so crammed is because Lucas left 60% of what he wanted to put in the Prequels for Episode III.

thats true, episode 2 was amazingly empty, i left the cinema and forgot the whole story...

^^^

I just watched episode 2 like yesterday......WOAH i dont remember that! On the other hand Ep. 2 wasn't all that bad, but it was definatly forced into a very compact movie.

I'm seeing III tomorrow maybe. From what i heard in the end lots of the characters go back to that '70s' look. But yeah cant wait...

Yeah, the book was way better. I rather the book over the movie. The movie did seem rushed. If you read the book, there is so much more you understand. It explains so much more, it fills in the parts that were left out. The book was written by Mathhew Stover and I look forward to more of his literary works.

If you read the book, you understand more of why Anakin turns to the dark side. In the movie it's really stupiud, he's so loyal and he just jumps into Palpatines arms, that's not cool. It explains alot of things, when Obi-Wan was to see Padm.

Please guys, read the book before you go to see the movie!

Yeah late but loved it.

THe beginning caught me off gaurd, i was in awe after the camara panned behind the cruiser.

General Grievious was awsome. If you really think about it, i'd say he was an earlier design of what you would say "Darth Vader". Considering the guts he has, i was thinking he was once human. I mean the gaurds he had were pretty fast with their little swords but Grievious was just too fast to be just a robot.

The wookie battle i could have seen more, mainly because Yoda was there atleast. i was really hopefing for more since they advertise chewbaca all over the place. Could see some videogame sequences through this though.

Didn't want anikin to turn to dark side after revieling the siddious. But i loved it when he went on the rampage. Jaw drop in awe.

And then the final battle scene was just like omg. SOmething that just made me seriously jaw drop was when ani and obiwan were fighting inside and then they tried to force push each other at the same time and held it. I was just amazed.

All in all, movie was great. Loved the music (i'm a big music cridict, if crappy music=crappy movie). The transformation of everything from Episode one to this movie and then on to A new Hope, it moved at appropriet speed (unlike my spelling). Great movie.

I almost cried during the 66 scenes

There were some moments where I was just staring slack jawed in awe, like the anikin and obiwan fight scene and the part where they come over the top of the cruiser and you see the space battle. No movie has done that for me in awhile. Mabye its just because my emotional attachment to the star wars saga.
