I've Been Gone Awhile...Help Me Out

Well, i been gone from PS about 8 months or so, and i'm re-installing it as i'm typing now. What has changed? I know there is that BFR thing now, I logged in once and saw those huge things. What else has changed besides continents? Thanks for your help. I'm not sure if i'm gonna re-subscribe...I mean, if the population of players has dwindled. So I guess my main concern is that PS is still thriving.

The PS population is actually growing, mostly due to the efforts of marcopolouk and his "Guerilla" PlanetSide marketing campaign. A few things have also been changed. As you mentioned there are now BFRs, there are also many Merrits, BR23, the new Heavy Sniper Rifle, Squad Experience and Squad Home Bases. I don't have to much time right now, but later on I'll be willing to explain all of these things in more detail.

Also I would recommend trying out the free 7-day trial (http://cmt.ubisoft.fr/planetside_pcgamer/) before resubscribing. This is a great game and all, but I still wouldn't pay SOE anything until you know you like the game still. ^_^

well, there is patch history and news archives. but instead of sifting through tons of patches and news, i figured i'd ask you guys. best to get your opinion of the changes also :)

Merits, various squad enhancements, CEP/BEP gain from squads reworked to encourage more teamwork, lattice changes, continents give global benefits when captured, capturing both enemy home continents let's you pull their gear/vehicles, Battle Rank cap upped from 20 to 23, and other stuff.

Plus in development are more stuff like support exp and such. Although at first i didnt realize how much had changed in the last year or so after reading these posts it made me realize that ps is much different than it used to be.

Yes it's growing, but atleast on markov we are barely able to pop lock a cont during primetime. The caves are absolutely dead, one good fight a week at most. BFRs are finally "balanced" so that the newbs stop whining, and reavers suck vs infantry. Everyone and their mother has AV due to BFRs and they finally made the lashers stop causing massive lag. It's also a lot easier to get CEP now thanks to the revised system, so everyone will have CR5 soon. That's just a taste, there's a lot of stuff I don't feel like mentioning.

Oh and also that new sniper rifle is a joke.

Ive haven't played this game since beta, but recent events have made me realize that the only massively multiplayer fun i can stand is fps massively multiplayer fun. I'd like to give this game a shot. The only free trial i saw on the main page was an "invite your buddy" trial. Would any of you upstanding fellas be willing to send me an invite?
