Played 20 hours straight of BF2 Demo 32 player map. Fucking awesome. I even messed around a bit with the Battlerecorder and watched a battle I was in when it came out....awesome....

To put it bluntly, BF2 makes me happy and sad at the same time. The new features are astounding, and give it that Tribes-like teamwork edge. Commander mode is awesome and often makes or breaks a team. Don't get me wrong, I get dissapointed when players don't form squads, don't listen to orders, and nobody steps up to take the commander slot, but that's hardly a game flaw.
What makes me unhappy is realizing that all this stuff should've been put in by Vietnam. All these improvements would have saved that game from being a crapshoot.
What's everybody's favorite class? I find myself playing SAWman more then anything. Ammo handouts 4 teh win.

Set the filter "Battlerecorder" on and find a good serve rto paly on, then just play. Then when you get done, go to your menu and click the top tab called "Community", on the left side there will be a bookmark for every round you played with the name of the server you played in on it. Then you download it. Now it should show up on the right listbox, and just hit play.
Hold down your Commands button (default Q) for Play/pause, quit, and speeds, and your Squad Leader Commands for what type of camera (Freecam/Playercam). Default key is T.

lol, I ran into Hamma and Jennyboo totally by accident the night the demo came out. I'm running towards an aircraft that had just spawned and this guy "Hamma" just pops into existance right next to me. I was so startled I spun around and stared and subsequently the aircraft got stolen by someone else. I asked "Is that the Hamma from PSU?!" and he said "One and the same!". What are the chances. Anyhow, so then I join a squad with him, and some person "Shadowfox" keeps taggin around after us and I feel like I'm supposed to remember who that is... turns out to be Jenny. So, with Jenny at the tiller, me toting a sniper rifle, and Hamma loaded down with C4, we took a boat over to the carrier and proceeded to blast the shit out of everything there. I sniped people, Hamma and Jenny planted C4 on aircraft, let people take off and then blew em out of the sky, it was hilarious.
Damn good fun :)

Spawn-campers on the carrier are really easy to clear out. Get in the Blackhawk with some mini-gunners and some support guys, and hose them off. Usually spawn-campers will hide on the superstructure above the bow spawn-point. It's a bit more difficult with the squad leader spawn option though.

It's ok, but really in the end its the same game as all the others in a different era and with like 1 or 2 new features. All in all not enough to warrant buying another copy of the same game. It's still a blast to play though.

Having a knife fight while Artillery is going off on both sides of you at the same time is pretty intense, too bad it doesn't last as long as the fight, still too used to knifing in BF42.

FMJ servers > all 64 people, No time limit 800 tickets, unlocked weapons
#1 70.85.190.75
#2 66.17.245.211
BF2 is awsome fun, im dissapointed they STILL dont have a god damn Favorites List of servers.
Now as you all know I am a pilot. And holy fucking shit in a basket batman is this game ever pilot fun time. Missles are PERFECT. The only beef I have with missles is the AA systems on the Essex, they can hit you when you cant even see the ship. The SU-34 is my favorite two seater.... haha with me and Electro at the controls of that thing NOTHING survives. And of course the F-35 JSF is absolutly awsome, and I rock at bombing crap. But where this game really shines is the dog fights. Nothing is more satisfying than checking your six for a bandit and seeing a SU-34 hot on your ass. You jerk hard to the right and put the stick into your gut to see two missles flash under your plane. Missle lock is still on, dump flares and dive with them as they fall. Jerk back hard on the stick and kick in the burners. Full left rudder and full left barrel roll and pull back when opposite the enemy fighter, do a quick 180 and take him out. The only problem I have with the whole thing is Shotty stalling. It sends you completly out of control and off the map with no way to recover.

FMJ servers > all 64 people, No time limit 800 tickets, unlocked weapons
Given the official statements (http://www.eagames.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/editorial.jsp?src=communityupdate_061405) from EA Games about the unauthorized hacks, you might want to have this post deleted. Advertising it is sure to get you banned.
There is reports that BF2 servers are getting removed from that don't have a time limit. Servers who advertise this fact are getting removed at a break neck speed. Servers who don't advertise this are still being remove but it takes a while. Unlocked weapons causes the same thing. I recommend we advertise neither and if our server does get delisted, we simply take in stride and let it stay. Don't try rotating IPs as it will end up getting banned as well and no one is sure if they will clear the ban lists when retail launches.
Server De-listing Update
EA and DICE both fully support server-side modding in the sense that we have intentionally exposed a good deal of Python functionality to the end-user, primarily to encourage modders to tweak game types and scoring (on UNRANKED servers) once the full game is available. That said, we have come to discover that two items that were not a part of the demo feature-set were hacked in the Battlefield 2 demo. We consider both of these changes in violation of the Tools EULA that each server operator accepted in installing the server software.
The demo's feature set included a 12-minute time limit on rounds and excluded access to the weapon unlocks. Because some server operators have hacked the time limit out of their servers or hacked access to the unlocks, we have been forced to reinforce our intended feature set by delisting the offending servers. All violations of the EULA as described above will result in a 1-week ban/delisting.
The activities of the obviously active hacking community reinforce our decision to not release the Ranked server publicly with the final product. Our desire is to be able to offer an exploit-free place to play where players can legitimately gain ranks, and collect awards and unlocks. The only way we can offer such a service and protect the Ranked server content is by hosting the ranked servers directly and through trusted partners. The Unranked server tools will be released to the community so that they may host their own BF2 servers, mods, etc

They arent banning users, they are banning server operators from operating servers. But all you have to do is change the GUID and change your IP address to get your server back online.

I just tried my hand at piloting. Jesus farking christ that is fun. I am the best air to air pilot i have ever seen on any server i have played on. I just picked it up and naturaly pwned at air to air. My air to ground could use some work, but its not that bad. Just not on par with my mad air to air skills. Im serious, no one can shoot me down. Seems like the only way i ever die is to freak accidents like hitting another aircraft in mid air or TKers.

Planetside Universe. Let your egos fly.
Anyways, I'm a pretty good pilot, I'm not gonna let my ego get in the way and say I'm the best, but I hold my own against the other pilots I have fought against. My favorite thing to do is to let them come in behind me, let them think they have a shot, and then dodge their heat sinking missiles without any flares (Just turn as hard as you can with after burners. You'll miss them everytime almost.). Then just do a couple trick turns and get on their tail.
Another good tip is to get so close to them when you're chasing them, that you can smell the fumes from their engines, then let loose with your missiles, their usually so close that the missiles wont miss. And another one is if you don't want to alert someone that you're behind them, so you get that "perfect" shot, switch to your bombs so they don't get the lock-on alert, then when they straighten up, switch back to missiles and launch some hell up their asses.

Xmod, telling everyone the bomb trick was a dumbass move. Now I have to acctualy watch my six. As for jaged and Firecracker...... no one has an ego bigger than mine. check me on Xfire. Ill take you both on in 35's while im in my mig. Youll be pickin pieces of sidewinders (AA-10 Aphid on migs) out of your ass for the next 3 days.

Well Peace, the thing is, I never play any games with any of you guys anymore, so why should I care?
And anyways, it's a pretty well known tactic, even today on like 5 servers some guys would get behind me and use their bullets with bombs active, I never knew they were behind me till I took some damage.......but after I found out they never got another shot in again :P

I still bag so many pilots with that bomb trick though. never underestimate your missiles though. So many pilots ignore the tone and continue to fly in a straight line when you get on their 6. Its pretty funny. Oh and my favorate plane in the game has to be the SU-34. When I shoot that thing down I get two kills instead of one. :)
Still my favorite thing to do is immediatly start camping the MEC airbase in my JSF. I straife the planes heles, SAM site, and any poor infantry who get in the way to death with that pure pwnage machine gun I have. Often times they can never get a plane in the air, and even if they do it wont last long.

You know, I honestly think the laser guidance thing could work. They don't need to make it so complex. Every ground unit has a designator. You see a target and know planes are in the area? Laze it and it lets the pilot know he has a target. Then he just Fire-and-forgets the bombs.
They seem to have the mentality that it needs to be pre-prepared and everything. Dosen't have to be.
Jaged
2005-06-21, 01:21 AM
how exactly does the laser designation thing work? I saw some infantry do it in a demo nstration video, but that was obviously heavily scripted. I have not seen anything to suggest that it even made it into the game. Nothing on the infantry side to designate with and no evidence of being able to do anything with such a designation while in the air.
