View Full Version : How Many Weapons

Does anyone know how many weapons a person can have on them at a given time with full ammo. Imho it would be good if a person could have a knife/pistol/2 large weapons and nades. But any more then that its just lame, imho. What do you think on limitations and also if anyone knows, what are the limits?

No one is sure exactly how much we can carry yet, all we do know is that if you want to carry a little extra equipment you will hopefully be able to store it in the trunk of a vehicle.
From the screenshots I've only ever seen someone holding a pistol and carrying one larger weapon on their backs, or holstering the pistol and holding the larger weapon. The knife is surely somewhere on the player.

Nothing is funnier than walking up behind someone and slashing them in an FPS game

Hmm, Hamma, I would've thought you'd get mad at me killing you from behind all the time. :p

Nah I know whats funnier. Sneaking up on a sniper zoomed out and aiming at your budies. Then pulling out a shotgun, waiting a second or two, then firing. But make sure you are right up behind them, gun to their back. :P Obviously only works in FPS games not 3rd person shooters, but in some 3rd person shooters your view changes for the zoom.

I don't know, watching someone sneak up on a guy and Pistol Whiping them to death is pretty funny to.

The weapons may fall into weight categories. For instance, you might be able to carry only one rifle-class weapon, which would go on your back, but two smaller weapons -- like a Surpressor and an AMP, or an AMP and a Chainblade. Something like that. Also, maybe one slot for grenades, and one or two slots for equipment too.

Second question - If 2 large weapons is the cap, what will you use? Also, who would go pure style and use pistols? :P
I would use a rifle and a rocket launcher. Able to take out personel at close to medium range, and destroy certain types of vehicles. I would be in medium armor so I wouldn't be limited to slow speed nor would I be to weak to take a shot or two from my enemy.

Oh man, I would love to have a Supressor for most of my combat. Then have a Vanu Lancer as a long range weapon.
Give me a couple of grenades and I am all set.
I don't see much use for a pistol tho.
Btw I wonder what weapon certs you automatically start with (are we going to have to suffer through pistol only combat at the beginning?).

Not really any information floating around on how much ammunition/weapons you can carry :(
As for watching a guy get pistol whipped, thats pretty funny too
2 weeks ago a bunch of us were playing SoF2 and this guy kept hiding in the same corner, every time. So I jumped down off the roof with knife out and tossed a few his direction. Didnt know what hit him

I remember reading somewhere that inventory was based upon weight. Meaning larger guns take up more space than smaller ones would. So I would imagine that the heavier the armor you are using, the more you could carry, which would allow those people in MAXs to carry extra ammo for squad members. I would also guess that even in the light armor you would always be able to manage a knife/pistol and possibly 2 SMG types or 1 large gun(including all the ammo for them). Of course, this is all my guestimation:)
oh, btw, Hi! i'm new to the forums;)

I'm guess two rifle class weapons, two pistol class weapons, and a knife... like in this picture:

If your car gets jacked to they get access to all your gear in the trunk?

i would venture a guess and say yes. but depending on what kind of stuff is in there would be the factor on whether you can use it or not. as we were discussing in another thread about if you can use another faction's guns or not. if there's other stuff in there like equipment and what not, then you'd more than likely be in luck:D

One would assume that you get access to what is in the trunk if you jack the enemy vechicle.
Like Hamma said little is known about how many weapons someone can carry, but I seem to remember their being talk about weight, and slots.
For example if you can carry 100 pounds you get 3 "slots" a Pistol might take up one slot, and the sniper rifle takes up 2 slots. Then you have a guy that can carry say 200 pounds and he get's 5 slots so he takes a Pistol for one slot, some type of 2 slot weapon like a shotgun or a rifle, and perhaps a sholder fired Missle launcher that takes up 3 slots.
The basic Idea is that you could carry a variety of weapons based on how many slots you have available to use. Sort of like how the inventorys in Diablo 2 or NWN worked. You could only carry as much stuff as you had room for.

the inventory stuff is in the faq, just finally took the initative to find it:)
How will inventory management be handled?
You've seen this system before...inventory space = encumbrance. If something is heavy, then it takes more space. Small (light) items take less space in the inventory grid.
of course, it seems to be the very basics of how it works

I knew I'd seen it somewhere before.

:D
of course, what i would imagine is that the different armor types would allow for different weight amounts as well.

Yes, but you should brush at least twice if not 3 times daily. Besides, I already forgot some of it so the refresher course has done me some good.
