Its nice but Im going to suggest you light up the planet more. Also it appears the beam is the onlything lighting the planet meaning that atleast half the planet should be lit up from that angle. With the newly added amount of surface add more cracks in the surface. Also the impact area looks all wrong. I would have more of a crater forming with debris flying into space. If you wanted to make it look really cool make the beam coming out the other side of the planet. Seperate a nice big chunk of the planet, making it just about to float away into space. Still very very close to its origonal position but make it clear this planet is going through its death throws. A huge ring of dust encirling the planet would look good too... like I giant shockwave.

I think it looks more like a big eye in space shooting a laser beam

Thanks for the feedback! Its my second planet I've made, and its greatly appreciated! I just might post some more if I get around to it. Just got my tablet in, and I can't wait to start playing around with it!

EDIT: Peace, you just gave me some really cool ideas, thanks for the help :D

Agh way better man. The beam cutting through the entire planet makes its doom look cooler. Good job man

Great job. Just one suggestion, the shockwave/burn marks that surround the point of impact don't seem to be in three dimensions, that is to say, they don't appear to wrap around the planet, making the proportions seem off. But other than that, great job.
