Well any way I still have a problem getting Planetside to work properly on my computer so I sent an e-mail to SOE support and apparently they are like a robot saying the same thing over and over, I keep telling them there is no room on my C: drive to install the game but they insist that I re-install it anyway. The full coversation:

I am trying to play the planetside trial but when I try to download the
new patch it says there is not enough free space, I checked my D: drive
and there is more then 20gigs of free space but I think it is trying to
download to my C: drive which only has 567mbs of space. How do I make
the patch install to my D: drive? (I tried reinstalling and clicking the
full scan button and the re-install button but it gives me the same
message everytime)

I would advise you to install the game in default drive that is your C:
drive. Kindly do the same and let us know if the issue still persists.

> I couldn't Install the game in the C: drive because
there isn't enough space for it, the C: drive is
reserved only for the WINDOWS folder so I couldnt make
room for it either. C: drive has a max of 3.99gigs of
space and 567mbs is left.

Unfortunately the default drive to install this game is C: drive. You
may need to delete some of your unnecessary files in order to make space
for the game.

drive can't make any room because it has all the files
needed for my computer to run on the C: drive.

Response (TSR Ken V.) - 07/19/2005 01:42 PM
I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you but you should
install game to its default location that is C: DRIVE\PROGRAM
FILES\SONY\PLANETSIDE as there are many files which get's downloaded automatically
while running patch. Please try to install game at its default location
and make proper space to run game efficiently.

-_- I didn't bother sending them another msg.

Well...I think its a bit silly to have a C: drive that small...

Mine is like 40 Gb, then I have a storage partition with 80 more.

Ok, its still possible. We have a storage server (Game Server) at my work and host almost all of our MMO's off there. You can def install it on one drive and play off of another.

I dont know exactly what the problem is, but before we had the above solution to save HD space, we did the same thing you are trying to do with no problems.

Yeah my D: drive has about 80GB on it but it's default is C: drive so I can't install it anywhere else.

I used to have my partions set up like yours on my old computer and I didn't have any problems with it.

However I had problems with BF:V and I asked Marsman and he told me to make a folder called "Temp" in your D: drive and then go to Control Panel > System > Advanced > Enviormental Variables and then change the location of both to D:\Temp.

Then in the system go and turn off system restore, reboot and you should have a little more room for the files that NEED to be stored in C:\ even if you install on D:\.

Interesting I'll try that.
