Today, using the sweeper shotgun the VS were coming along a NC base and most of us were located on the top area duking it out. Well I come around and start jumping a couple of times just to kill some bastard with a Jackhammer (I think his name was Aerostile?) and after he dies he messages me and says "Are you bunny hoping" which I replied " I jumped once or twice while killing you" (err maybe 3 times). And then some more killing happens and I meet the guy again... so just to make him mad I start hoping around and actually kill him again and he says "dude you are bunny hoping....".
Is there something wrong with bunny hoping? I mean come on its a legitmate strategy just like camping and Ambush+Vanish+Ambush+CB+Evis.

it's a tactic not a strategy. the reason why it is disliked is because it degenerates a game to a point where it's not a matter of skill (if you can call it that) or intimate knowledge of the game, but just exploiting a part of the game that was not meant to be there.

It is meant to be there, it used to not drain stamina while doing it. The devs were fully aware of it and set it to an acceptable rate. So yes, it is a tactic if you can use you stamina wisely, and those who don't like it call it an exploit.

Bunny hopping kills your stamina and blooms your cone of fire while making it harder to aim. I'd rather use my implants.

Yea it may be effective at times, but overall its better to just stay grounded. :D

Plus I think a lot of people equate it with Counter-Strike where bunny hopping is a fairly common occurance. With the size of the hit box in PS, it really doesn't make much of a difference and as pointed out above, it's a significant drain on the stamina.

Bunny hoping is a problem because of the shit netcode. You jump up and down and warp all over the fucking place. That isn't skill it's exploiting the shitty code.

if it were meant to be there the Devs wouldn't have added the stamina drain and COF bloom.

No, they would have removed jumping with a weapon drawn. :D

That is my point, they added stamina drain to keep it available while still allowing it. If they didn't want it they would have done a lot more than the stamina drain.

I think the guy was just mad because I killed him with a sweepr and he had a Jackhammer. Of course he might have been even more furious if I was jumping all over the place with a lasher.

Yeah im sure bunny hopping is a game mechanic dev's plan for, instead of just giving the ability to get over obstacles without having to holster your weapons.
dev 1: "We've got multiple vehicles and dozens of weapons, what else can we put in the game to boost its popularity and fun factor"
dev 2: "Oh I know! Bunny hopping, everyone loves it, it's a great tactic and takes real skill!"
dev 1: "excellent idea!"

Why would they bother with adding limited stamina use instead of removing the ability fully if they didn't want it in the game? If they wanted it gone, they would have done it.
