We all realy want "Planet Side 2" with a new engine and physics and all it would be cool and I would play it. PS is good but getting old and soon will be out of date. we want PS2! at least I do.

I doubt the game will ever have a sequel. Hell I'm suprised it's still alive... when it was released it was packed and along the way... less and less people played till most of them were gone.

The game is fun for a while but that's about it. The game has no depth what-so-ever, no real sense of achievement or even customisation. It's a shame really had it been another developper then SOE it might have evolved properly and been so much more.

But SOE has the tendency to change project managers too much it's like they go there to die or something and they also stop pretty much any out of the box idea to make it more... bland. Someone could come up with the idea of the century there and they'd get fired for getting "too creative".

In fact the last out of box idea they had was a MMOFPS... from there it went downhill. Somewhere along the way the original vision was lost and now... meh.

We have to face the fact that planetside was realised so badly that it became a total and utter flop. SOE has more problems then I thought if they ever create PS2. A new MMOFPS... maybe that would work... but not planetside.

We need another updated MMOFPS - if not PlanetSide anything. The MMOFPS genre can be much bettar. SOE spoke of doing something else last year but I dunno what came of it.

None of this Huxley RPG/FPS crap - another game like PS that has learned from it. PS is and was revolutionary things can only get better from here.

I like the idea of planetside.I just can't see another game thats better than PS when I played last.I just can't see another game where you'll be able to siege a base when the shield goes down.Every1 is right outside a base and the enemy is on the other side and your just looking at the other guy on the other side with your mcg pointing at him,shield goes down you fire,dead,go to the gat and you find 20 NC in front of you you fire,kill 5and you die because of all the bullets.That was fun.

Right now, I dont think there is a development company out there that has the FPS/MMORPG knowledge to create a game worthy of my expectations for a MMORPG/FPS. SOE nearly met those expectations with PS, it was an extremely fun game, but I still find myself wanting much more in a game like PS. :)

I want my Tribes MMO. Or a true Battle Tech MMO with not just mechs but tanks, planes, foot troops, space travel, ect.

Sadly most of the companies out there as of now are probably incapable or doing a good MMOFPS... the only one who I think would really stand a chance would be NC soft... but then again it would be contentless like Lineage 2.

why is it when people hear persistant world they automatically want to equate that to some sort of MMORPG accomplishment grind. I just want a large FPS in a persistant world.... fin.

I would like a Tribes MMO and yes there is a FPS/MMO in the makeing. Its called Huxley and it is being made with the unreal 3 engine might be good stuff. But why not just take what you know with PS and make PS 2 unreal?
PS is a fun game no dought about it but I just want new graphics and Rag Doll phisics!

Huxley is an RPG/FPS it's nothing like PlanetSide. I agree with LesserShade on thsi one - I'm tired of every MMO being pigeonhole'd into being a damn RPG.

Huxley is like a fancy server browser - instanced combat.. etc :\

and quests and NPC's to me arn't bad as long as it still plays like a FPS. the thing that turns me off most about RPG's is that shitty ass stand around and hit buttons combat. BORING.

and they're gonna have like arenas for straight up classic fps action. and from what I've read it sounds like you're still going to be able to PvP while you're roaming the countryside fighting NPC's and what not. that could be fun.

you say NPC's turn you off from it? and quests? what do you never play a single player fps? thats the same deal really.

If I play an MMOFPS I want every person I see to be human, which is why I think Huxley is a step back.

This whole trend to PVE in an online game boggles my mind - I play online to play against other people not NPC's. PVE has been going on since day one of gaming, PVP is where the action is at. I want an online game that is ALL PVP. Is that so much to ask nowaday? The hardware can handle it. PS did this perfectly - you can argue or not but nobody else has done it. Everyone is on equal footing and everyone is fighting a human - you dont need r33t purple gear and a r33t weapon you have to farm to compete.

World of Warcraft has done a good job of mixing PVE and PVP but for a FPS just give me a consistent stat tracker and PVP! WOW why not just play Battle Field 2 ! that game rocks!

Well for a few reasons: Full on PvP game sucks for those who dont play at peak hours. Or Like PS is now... just nobody plays.. and it kills it. A lot of people like to team up against computers(NPCs), thats why co-op is such a hot option in shooters.

Maintaining a persistant world is a bug fucking task to be put in the hands of people, players would fuck it up in a second.

We can agree to disagree - I for one won't run quests in a FPS game and pay a monthly fee for a fancy server browser. I will wait for the next tribes :brow: or a real MMOFPS
