What will YOU focus on in Planetside?

This has probably been beaten to death elsewhere. But need to create some game related discussion.

What do you plan on focusing on in the game when its released, Pilot? Soldier? Commander?

I myself want to focus on being a mosquito pilot, so I can escort Kaikou in his big transport so he doesent die :D

What are the different armor types?
A standard issue vest is given to all players and is the default armor. Players can also purchase and certify in the blah, blah, blah, or an extremely heavy Mechanized Armor.

Not only can I be a Heavy, this time around i get to be Xtremely Heavy!!!! (see this is the only Xtreme Armor, and we all know that Xtreme = cool, especially when you spell it with an X)

no ctf.. the goal is to make your empire expand, take over bases and such. You can also be a hax0r that can hack into enemy systesms. :D

I read somewhere there will also be a certification for stealing, like jacking vehicles and such :O

yea a jacking certificate, if a vehicle is empty u can hack into it's computer and switch it to your empire.

Rayzer - They don't have a Shocklance, but they have these cool Knifes that are just about the same thing.

Mani not commanding an Outfit? Or maybe leading by example on the battlefield? What will the Dragonwolves do with out you running the show?

From what I can see there is a lot of room for roles and abilities - this is a 24/7/365 game. You are going to need several commanders - gonna need a lot of everything.

You can be all three, just not so good at either.

You get a limited number of certifications you can have, and you could either choose to spilt them over a wide range of certifications or choose to specialise in one or two things.

There are no classes as such, beacuse you just choose the certification for what you want to do.

We don't know what certifications there are yet, although we know about hacking/jacking, certs for armour and vehicles, and most probably for a medic.

I've been reading some of these insanely old threads and realized all of the shit I missed. It really sucks that I hadn't heard about Planetside back before it released, and even worse that I found out about it in around 2007. Getting some major nostalgia reading these threads, realizing I missed PlanetSide when it was really good. Damn it.

This is part of why I'm so excited about Planetside 2. It may have some significant differences from the first game, but it is absolutely going to deliver the same level of amazing moments and memories.

I'm not at all worried about the launch of PS2. My only fears lay in the unknown future of the game. But I'm not going to lose too much sleep over that just yet, when we still have beta and launch and hopefully at least a solid 3 year plan to look forward to.

I never got to experience the first games beta, so this will be new territory for me. I'm glad I'm getting in on the ground floor of this thing. I plan to fall in love with Planetside all over again.

This changes constantly. But atm I'm thinking of going Magrider driver/engi for my VS char, will be skilling into engineering if it improves my repairing or anything else that helps my magi. As for my TR char I'm going with whatever my outfit will be focusing on, which I'm guessing will be grunts and prowlers.

Traditionally my main role is a Rexo tank/commander/buggy driver. But that was when surgile was still cool.

Unfortunately if I do that in PS2, I can't focus on my piloting or tanking as much as I could in PS.

So I suppose I'm still undecided.

I'm going to mostly be a pilot/rapid response adv hacker, and then go part time as a rexo with HA/AV with adv medic and engi for support.

Then I'm going to stop playing much after the populations start dying down and wait until Planetside 2 comes out.

This is a thread about what you will focus on in the first Planetside after all. I'm just posting retroactively. :D

Speaking of retroactively posting:

I'm going to start off thinking I can fly since I am so awesome at X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter. Then I'll shamefully realize flying with the mouse is hard, so I'll switch to AA Max.

Then I'll be in a battle at Cetan on Amerish that lasts all day long in an epic back and forth extravaganza that I'll distinctly remember for at least 8 years.

Then I'll figure out flying with a mouse is easier if you adjust the sensativity and start owning the skies in a Mossie. Then I'll get shot down alot by some good Reaver pilots and decide to give that a shot. Then I'll fall in love with the Reaver and basically fly that for the next 8 years or so even with all the neccessary nerfs it will go through.

By then, the sequel will probably be announced, and I'll spend far too much time on this website discussing anything and everything remotely related to Planetside.
