Overpriced computers for the win.

Well... it will either do two things...

1. Improve the quality of DELL PC's...

2. Send alienware into a downward spiral of shittyness.

I just hope that alienware PC's will still be able to be upgraded without buying overpriced parts from DELL like they do with their PC's.

You mean it hasn't been sent yet?

Dell recently put a bid on my penis, but I rejected the offer. But I havent accepted yet. Holding out for a better offer.

IMO Alienware has always been for shittier than even Dell.

Alienware really isn't anything special. They just take the very best on the market, put it into a flashy case, and charge you double what you would spend if you'd actually bought the components and built it yourself.

If you don't know how to screw a motherboard into a case and drop some parts into it, you're welcome to rape your wallet buying Alienware. There's lots of companies out there that can build a similar system minus several hundred bucks and an alien logo.

As for Dell, they don't overcharge so much as they force you into upgrading through them at their prices (examples, RD RAM installed into your computer, CPUs soldered into circuit board with custom sockets) And while they don't particularly overprice, they do have a habit of lagging behind the rest of the industry in bringing release prices down, thus when you want to upgrade to that new CPU (and you're forced to buy Dell's modified chip) you'll be paying prices that have long since dropped on newegg.com.

I love how Dell thinks they are in with the cool crowd. THey are like the laughing stock of the computer world. Yea they are big. But its almost like buying a mac.

BUYING AN APPLE IS LIKE GIVING THE DEVIL YOUR MONEY!!!!

/sarcasm

Apple computers, aside from all that hipness that is present, are still an extremely good choice for workstations. It's a relatively small market of course, but it is there and macs are one of the best choices. Basically what I'm saying is that they aren't just computers that are saying "Look at us! We're not mainstream, buy us!" ...OK, well they kind of are, but they have been very popular for a while in the 3D modeling/animation world.

No one that reads forums like this and is moderately competent should be buying a standard PC for home use.

It doesn't take anythign to build one yourself.

Laptops, and masive volumes are different, though.

Well, I have a dell, simply becuase I cant save the money long enough to be able t oafford the parts in one swoop, and it was a present, so what was i supposed to say? No, take it back, Ill have none of that. Thats pretty ignorant.

dude considering everything you get, dells are pretty fucking cheap. theres no way you can get a monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, printer (sometimes), plus the computer for what they ask. granted im not talking about the higher end rip off dells. I'm talking about the ones they're always running deals on.

Hamma

Aye they are always running deals - we pretty much stole these 19" LCD's I have here at work.
