Nice. Keeping the price down is the main thing they have to worry about I think. Oh, and I hope blu-ray works.

-The PS3 will utilize a new form of HDMI called HDMI 1.3 with 48-bit color.
wtf? better be compatible with those of us who already have HDMI.

If there were no innovations in technology for a year, the planets would stop turning all at once and the entire galaxy would explode.:p

Who needs ps3 when you got xbox 360.I believe that is the best console out there. The only problem is the high demand making the price go up to $800.:(
Hamma

It's the best because it's the only new one out there atm.

I just thinks all the games on it are really cool, like "Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion"and the Halo games.

Going into that realm, it all depends on what kind of game you want to play. FPS? 360. Innovative games? PS3. Mario and Link? Revolution. It really is that simple. Saying anything else pretty much amounts to fanboyism IMO.

woah.. innovative games ps3? where the fuck are you finding this? they dont even have any games

Let me make it easier to understand. PS2 has innovative games. Japanese developers + PS3 = innovative games.
Is that better?

Please, dont get me started, I could whoop your ass in any PS3 vs X360 debate, and it would all be over with one hyphenated word "Blu-Ray".

I agree with Setari, its all about the games. Other than blu-ray's advantages there is no point in argueing amongst tech specs because the only credable information is that from developers.

PS3 will have hard drive as standard
Submitted By: Lost Alley

A Sony representative has confirmed this morning that PlayStation 3 will come with a 60GB HDD as standard, but that can be upgraded if preferred. Some of the larger US websites have been speculating that PlayStation 3 would be shipping with an optional 60GB hard disc drive. However it was confirmed this morning that all PS3 consoles will be sold with the HDD out of the box. Sony's president of Computer Entertainment, Ken Kutaragi, announced on Wednesday that all PS3 games are being developed to take advantage of the 60GB HDD.

Well, welcome to the next gen. And in the next gen, MS didnt include a standard HDD with the 360, and, MS wants you to pay to play online. Sony on the other hand has a standard HDD (unlike the 360) with 60GB (unlike the 360s optional 20BG), and gives you free online play.

Let's look at it this way, Microsoft got greedy this year and may have made a big mistake. The PS3 is going the right way for the moment, no way to be sure until it's out...

It's like arguing religion there is no winner.
I like the path they are taking though - they have to do a pretty bang up job to make up for the time the 360 has been out.

funny most real gamers dont get into this bullshit. they have both because they like to play games. not beat off to corporate logos.

At one time there was 2 XBoxes and 2 PS2s in my house. All networked together and on the internet. Then my friend moved out. And took his XBox and PS2. So now I'm just down to one of each again.

Yea I have both - I don't have a 360 yet though to rich for my blood.
Yeah I'm going to wait a while to buy anything. I'll wait till some really good games come out. Though, I have a feeling I might end up buying a PS3 before the 360.

I think IBM is the real winner here. They developed both Cell and the processor for the 360.
Well not just IBM developed the Cell processor. It was a joint project of Toshiba and Sony as well.

High definition technology. Supposed to be better than HD-DVD but I think any average consumer is going to buy a HD-DVD over something called Blu-Ray when looking for "High Definition" media. Blu-Ray will probably be localized to Sony products, I don't see it making it into every day use over HD-DVD.
Sony on the other hand has a standard HDD (unlike the 360) with 60GB (unlike the 360s optional 20BG) Made into the thread twice, that sure is a technological feat sure to trump the 360 especially when the average user is going to use about 2gb.
And I think I heard HD-DVD comes out next month or so. So people are going to be buying everything with the words HD-DVD on it now and then Blu-ray comes out everyone will already be HD-DVD.

I figured since this is basically a console discussion thread I'd put this here. If it needs its own thread, Hamma or someone can fix it.
Interview with Shigeru Miyamoto (http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/games/archives/2006/03/16/shigeru_miyamoto_interview.html#more)
EDIT: Forgot to mention, I sincerely hope that the next generation of games will be filled with more innovative games than Shoot-Shit-Up 8 for the 360 and PS3. Hopefully, people will start to realize that they're just playing the same games over and over with newer graphics and different missions.

I'm not buying any HD DVD no matter the title for a while - damn players are gonna be like 700 bucks.
Companys should start pushing Blu-Ray players and other products now. I've read somewhere that Blu-Ray is better some how. Don't remember the details.
