I have a serious issue with getting up in the morning for school. Its damned near impossible some mornings and my attendance is getting pretty shitty. I am looking for some creative ways to get my lazy ass out of the sack at 6:30 am reliably cause what I'm doing now (alarm clock and bitching dad) is not working.

I'm right there with you - I am not and never have been a morning person. I hate getting up and it takes me about 2hrs  So I just set my alarm waaaay before I actualy have to get up.

Think about cool things to look forward to if you wake up.And if your dad isn't very strict, play planetside when your ready for school while waiting for ride/bus unless you walk. And all you have to do is have an alarm clock remind you to wake up at 4:00 so you'll have enouph time to play planetside.

Move you alarm clock away from your bed. So you have to get up and out of bed to turn it off. Then just fight the urge to crawl back in bed since you're out now.

that doesnt work. either that or my urges are just far too strong to resist.

I'm a heavy sleeper, and a night person, used to have the same problem.

Simple Solutions

Get more Sleep

Drink LOT's of fluid before you doze off, time it right with the right amount and after some practice you'll wake up (or piss yo self) right when you need to.

Get a very loud alarm clock, and put it out of your reach. So the only way to turn it off is to get up.

Sometimes being scared awake can really work, I used to set my PC to go off with Black Label Society at max volume.

These are a bit more difficult b/c they require will power, wich for me was often overcome by my laziness.

Start moving around, jumping jacks, push ups, sit ups, what ever.

Jump in the shower, don't turn the hot on till you're fully woke up.

Being woke up is the best, just have to find someone devoted. A friend of mine used to meet me in the morning for the Bus, I started leaving the door unlocked so he could come in and smack me.

Being woke up works cause there is no snooze button.

In grade school my grandmother used to call me about 15 mins after I should of already been up to make sure I got up. She would talk my ear off and ask questions to kick brain into working mode so to speak.

I'll tell you what works. If you have a phone with a ring called siren. Put that somewhere out of reach but close enough for you to hear. Just use that as an alarm and make it go of 30 minutes before you have to get up. It will go off every 5 minutes untill you turn it off. Luckly for me i can hit the snooze button and it'll still go off until i go into the phone settings and shut it off.

get enough sleep.
ahh if that was only the answer - it seems it makes no difference if I sleep 3 hours or 15 - I still can't wake up in the morning :(

I will have to try some of the pointers in this thread.

Im about an hour late for work every day cause I don't want to get up, today I was 1.5 hours late. I have an alarm clock with dual alarms and I have it across the room so I have to get up to turn it off and then again 15 minutes later, but I always end up back in bed with my wife saying an hour later "You ever going to get up?" with no memory of my alarms ever going off. I suppose I should go to bed earlier than 12:30 am, but then the day is too short. I want more hours in the day.

I actualy have been considering the military after high school. It is very unlikely though.

But I have tried the whole alarm clock out of reach thing. I just lay there and ignore the incessant buzzing. The thing is I just need to get physicly out of bed. Once I have done that I am good to go. The impossible part for me is getting out of the warm soft cozy covers into the cold harsh room.

A lot less BOOS and drugs can help, that mixed with a balenced diet<less sugar and more fruits and vegitabals> and getting to bed before 10:00 pm will help. Also drink a gollon of water every day it is a nateral pain killer and can do wonders for the sex drive.

Heh i though i was going to after the 20k (10mile) ruck march. In this we had 4hrs to complete 10miles aka 20k with a 35lbs ruck (back pack) also carrying our NBC (gas mask) and kevlar (helmet) and M4. So lets do some math

Ruck: 35lbs
NBC w/carring kit: 4lbs
Kevlar: 2lbs
M4 w/scope and ammo: 7lbs

= 48lbs to be carried 10miles in under 4hrs.

Oh btw you have to be in formation at 4am to start the ruck at 5am.

my time for this was 2hrs 48min.

So anyone want to join me on april 15th when we do it again?

Also if anyone is really debating about joining please contact me so i can make sure they dont fuck you over.

Eh, if I could join the Marines... I'd try. Sadly being Canadian and all I do beleive I don't have that option. (Unless I'm mistaken)

Overslept by 30m today - 30m late to work.

Although this time it was because we forgot to turn on the alarm.

I though you were going to say pour the water on a toaster <Electric shock throughout your whole body>, that will do the trick.

I have multiple alarms. The usual bedside alarm clock with the much used snooze, the tv timer on option for news/weather when I'm in that between alarms stage, then the "ass-ter blaster" boombox last warning alarm that literally blasts me outta bed cause the whole house is shaking from the noise. Those plus I have one lamp on a timer that comes on before all the alarms. A dark room is an invitation to go back to sleep.

The only problem with getting to school on time is that my brother is a heavy sleeper so I have to wait for him before I go to school so I'm late a lot.I'm actually going to use some of these ideas on monday.

Man that is awesome Gryphon. :)

Try turning on the lights if it's early and dark in your area. I also set my alarm earlier than I intend to get up and snooze for a bit with the lights on. That and keep the clock in view while half asleep. Instill the fear of being very late in your soul. That's how it works for me. ;)

When you wake up get in the habit of going straight to the shower, after a shower you won't want to go back to sleep.
