How do you screenshot your desktop?

Im a nub, but how do you screenshot your desktop or whatever you happen to be viewing at the time such as internet.

And also if possible can you record video with a program like Fraps on your desktop as well?

Press the "Print Screen" button and then paste into Photoshop or Paint.
