For those of you who dont know the Civilian Marksmanship Program sells WWI and WWII rifles from old military stock to the American public (assuming your allowed to own a firearm, and follow their guidelines). We got our paperwork filled out in January and my dad told me back in December that we were going to their store in Port Clinton, Ohio for Spring Break and since then Ive been saving up money.

I wont bore you with all the boring gunsmithing lingo but the thing is in excellent shape with some finish wear.

I have to grease and oil some parts on the Garand and the Springfield is a mess. I have to clean all of that cosmoline (preservative oil) along with the barrel, and then oil it.

Here are the details:

1955 M1 Garand, Springfield Armory. Original barrel
1942 Springfield 1903, Remington. Original barrel
The M1 Carbine wasnt made under a military contract, it is 100% mil-spec though.

I seem to be forgetting?

Why did we stop the south from leaving the union?

Too bad this was about 10 miles away from the Canadian border. That rifle in the background was a .22 built for military matches.

If these were Remchesterby Deer rifles that Joe Redneck keeps in the back of his pickup, your point would be understandable. But at least what I came home with are important pieces of American history.

With a disproportionate representation in the south.

Besides, i figure that all of the rednecks would've been attracted to the confederacy like bees to honey.

A large part of the Confederate officer corp isn't exactly what I would call redneck.

The regulars are more like rednecks.

and I would say you don't get out much. I can find just as many rednecks in new york or colorado or just about any state for that matter.

but god damnit thats not even the point here. I came in here to make fun of bio and gun fetish not argue about rednecks... bastard... getting me off topic....

Nice dude. I used to have an M1903 Springfield (well, it was property of the institution, but I still used it, and took care of it for 3 years). I used to spin it in parades

Very cool :D

The idea of Squeeky with a weapon frightens me to the core though.
