dont think the environment has any effect on u... yet anyways. i remember some interview (i think the question was about wind effecting bullets) and the response was the only phyiscal effect in the game is gravity pushing down

besides ice wouldnt effect your handling or anything in the late 23nd century the then strugling terran government was looking for a way to give them an edge in there battle on plutu's icy surface they desighned a system that used controlled thrusters to stabelize the vehicle's if they began to slip, giving them the edge they needed to turn the war in there favor.
subsequently all vehicles now produced incorporate this control sistem also helping to counteract roleovers etc .
This was all just a guess but see anything makes sence if you want it to :D

He is saying you can logically explain any thing lacking in game with a background story, so if there is no sliding on ice in the game, instead of complaining about it just think of a logical sci-fi reason.

Imagination......convenient.
They did say they might work on weather and other elements affecting vechicals, i believe it was mentioned in the shoutout broadcast, along with something about lightning might eventually cuase damage. Key words "might" and "eventually".
