Heh, actually, when I saw the yopic title, and was going to say "No, give me $n for a 7950 GX2". That looks badass, and I can finally have SLI, without the extra PCI-e port. Unfortunatley, it doesnt quite match up to the 7900 GTX SLI, but I have heard that drivers arent even finished, so performance is likely to increase...

Plus, you dont need an SLI motherboard for that. I have two PCI-E slots, but it doesnt support SLI. Then again, if you are spending $650 on a graphics card, you are probably not opposed to dropping an extra $100 on an SLI model mobo.

I think it's a waste of money.
Right now, unless you for some reason can't buy a card in the future, it's a bad idea to get a crazy new expensive card.
DX10 is around the corner.

In accordance with your opinion in the "So I Was Thinking" thread, I wanted to know before I commit to this financial endeavour. Do you swallow? That's the only way I like it.

everything has its price.
and rbstr there's always something right around the corner in the computer world. DX10 games are far enough out that it wouldn't be the worst purchase ever.

This is the Top of the line single slot card on the market. But it's also the last of a generation, dx9. It's one of those times where you do want to wait. Vista is comming out at the end of this year. 6 months or less away. This card won't do DX10.
It's not a case of "oh something better will be along in 6 months", It's your card will be obsolete in it's purpose in 6 months(playing brand new games at top spec).

so you're saying in 6 months the whole market is instantly going to change? haha.
considering that inorder to use dx10 you'll need vista and a shiny new dx10 card and enough people have to have it for companies to start producing for it. yea its coming but not this year. hell id be surprised if it took over by end of next year.

DX10 cards will be out as soon as Vista is, if not sooner. They'll be backwards compatible to DX9 so people will buy them as they upgrade their computers for Vista.
They'll be out this year.

nVidia was supposed to have their 8 Generation out this month, but unfortunaley missed some sort of tape out. I assume September is when the 8 generation will arrive. I would wait, considering that this is a waste of money, its only good for an other few months, then bam, you need to drop an other $600/800 for a new card. This is why I feel bad for the people who got a renegade, sure its nice having 4 video cards, but what use are they when the games you have arent compatiblw with them?

shit will be compatble with dx9 for a long fucking time. unless microsoft is going to pull some sort of crazy pay off bonus to all game makers for using dx10.
