Microsoft just bought Planetside

We know that this might come as a shock to many readers, so we warn you to please keep breathing and put your head between your legs if you start to lose consciousness.

GameSocket reported last evening (and we have confirmed many of the same details with our own sources) that on Monday morning the announcement will come that Microsoft has acquired the PC game PlanetSide.

As part of the deal, Microsoft will obtain the rights to publish Planetside, clearly one of the most anticipated titles for 2003. Our sources suggest that Planetside will likely be converted to an X-Box only title, but a final decision has yet to be made. There are currently few details on whether either Halo will still be coming to the PC following this major acquisition, but hopefully most questions will be answered in the press release to be issued this Monday morning.

You mean stuff like XP(hardware compatability problems and you have to call up MS if you add/remove hardware) and Windows 95/98/ME(crash like nothing else)?

Heck, even win 2k(what I use) has its share of problems.

Selling the rites to a game with less then a week till open beta? After spending god knows how much to produce and market planetside, with over 20000 people in the community ready to buy and pay per month. With SOE's reputation for MMO. No, didnt believe it for a minute lol.

Lol, ever use ME? Worst thing to come out of microsoft in a long time. But i agree, most problems are cuased by the user, even if they dont know it. If you have problems with your system have someone take alook at it. I had a long term problem with a parasite i couldnt get rid of, had a friend take a look, he got rid of it and i havnt had a problem since.

Anyone remember HALO? Yep, I just had a massive fucking flashback. I was psyched as hell about halo for pc, then the news comes down the pike that BUngie was bought by MS....and my lovely game got delayed and became a flagship title. I bought an Xbox for that game (among others but mainly halo). Wow. That was scary.

Sorry if I upset anyone..I just was remembering how anxious I was awaiting Halo for the PC for it's wonderful team play, and then was let down. So I cut and pasted one of the press releases from back then and changed "Halo" to "Planetside". Evil I know..sorry. :)

Planetside is gonna show M$ how it's supposed to be done!

XP has, had, or haven't found yet, so many security holes in the thing it looks like swiss cheese. MS has come out with so many security patches for XP the thing looks more like a hand made quilt. Man that was a bad joke. Wish I had thought to do it. Seriously, I about craped my pants when the same thing really happened to HALO. I'm still waiting on that game to come back to it's rightfull home, the PC.

They are in direct opposition to each other, and would never sell out to either, in any way, shape, or form, except for a merger which would most likely be blocked by the Federal Government if they ever attempted it anyhow.
