Wow I cant believe how friendly you people are! I have never encoutered people who are newb-friendly in a Fps style game. I was expecting counterstrike style behavior instead I get helpful people who dont mind that I like to ask alot of questions, and sometimes even offer me advice in a non-sarcastic manner just out of the blue! Maybe its because you guys know there is 100 carbon copie reserves of me on the other factions that you get to kill but I still think its pretty cool. In a month or less I am moving 3000 miles or so closer to the server (for an unrelated reason =D) and my ping will go from 400+ to 40ish and I am definately buying this game and all applicable expansions!

Now I'm a mmorpg guy and I am used to character building so I will definately be playing up one "main" character and I was wondering which faction needs players more. I thought I joined the lowest population but lately its been showing VS as lowest pop when I log in (I am NC). I dont mind changing to another faction if another side needs players more. My partner will be playing with me so I will always have a gunner/ams driver ect!

Also I was wondering if there is anywhere I could go to learn about ettiquite in this game, spoken and unspoken. Like for instance I was up on a tower as a aa max and while I was reloading I caught sight of a mos droping a sniper into a tree. I watch the sniper and he is taking a bead on infantry, he sees me, knows I see him, ignores me. I begin to shoot at him, knowing I wont kill him but hoping a friendly will wonder wtf I am shooting at and look up. He gets mad and sends me tells about it. Am I supposed to ignore infantry as a anti-aircraft? I'd like to be up to speed on things like that.

Sorry if this stuff is already covered on previous posts generally I am using my free time to explore the game by playing it so I havent been reading up on it too much.

If he's an enemy you can shoot him. Unless you think it's strategically more sound not to. Sometimes telling someone about it is better because then hes less jumpy when someone does get to him. That's basically one of the uses of all of those chat channels. 8)

Enemy hate tells are just an annoyance or good way to gauge something about your affect on the enemy. Though not necessarily that what you did was strategically the best thing, because that has nothing to do with how they react through tells. It's really just an odd thing some people do and it really just unrelated to what you need to worry about in the game to tell if you are playing well. It just gives you odd info about that small circumstance which, like i said, is usually completely irrelevant to if you are doing good or not in the game.

The only thing you have to remember now a day when you play is that there are two playing styles. Hectic whoring/greed style where everyone logic largely on the end of what can i get or a more patient style based on what will help others or us (the empire or whatever group is relevant). And the only thing you need to know is which one you are doing to tell what you are really doing and then figure out what you can do or want to. At least until the off chance the game becomes more complicated again strategically then you will have a lot of that to do.

As far as which side has the lower pop. I'm not sure if it is time of day or not but it usually changed every day i play. So i think if you want to play based on pop you would have to basically go back and forth every day to whichever side. The game is really more oriented on empire design, even if it is much more diluted than it used to be. Originally it was very heavily leaning toward which side had the strategy you want because they were still that much different that one another. Then you just play that side to the end of time. Or until you decided that " I really want to try their strategy out now." But that usually isn't as easy as you think because you always have the attachment strategically to the stuff you did in the first empire you set yourself to so heavily. It is actually fairly stressful to switch empires a lot like that because of the differences unless you play only common pool stuff like engineering or possibly aircraft. But aircraft even has the same thing because you have to face the non common pool AA. Though it's not as diverse as it used to be.
