Hey Gang,
Certain threads got a little out of hand this weekend. Over the weekend, my mail was flooded with complaints about posts. Upon further review of the boards, I have found way too many flames, personal insults and general bad Karma.

I've been trying to encourage us all to be a little more friendly here. I see noticable changes in some people's attitudes. Unfortunately, the forums remain a generally uninviting medium for discussion and information. This has to change.

First of all, I would like to direct you to the Community Policies, which should always be your guide in determing what and how to post. Second, I would like to address some specifics.

1) Personal issues are not to be addressed in these forums. Do not harass or continually insult individuals on the board. Do not flame these people. If you are flamed, do not invite further flames by responding negatively.

2) The boards are as much an information channel as the Game Info or FAQ. It is true that many people ask questions that are answered on those pages. That does not, however, make flaming them acceptable. People's research and web navigation skills vary, so if someone finds this forum to be a more accessible place to get answers, great. We want them to find everything they need, one way or another. When a previously answered question is asked, either answer it or ignore. These people do not need to be called a n00b or be scolded for not reading the FAQ, wading through News and Chat archives or otherwise not finding previously released information.

I've been hoping that I would see some self-restraint from the community. In general, I have. I still maintain that this is a fantastic, well-informed community. However, the issues I am citing above come from a very loud minority. They have to come to an end now. I don't like that I have to take administrative action on my end, but I will do what I have to keep the forum inviting and useful.

I am keeping the thread open, in case anybody has questions. But I hope it is clear that we have to stay positive and off each other's backs.

Many questions can be answered by reading the PlanetSide Game Info and FAQ

I step foot every now and then, but not often at all. I think I have like five posts total. :) But I am glad that he's trying to crack down on the insanity.
