1987 Ninja 500. V&H Full performance exhaust system. Performance springs up front. Was garaged for a looong time, recently tuned up, new tires, everything.

Soooo hard not to redline it through every gear on this thing. :(

I can't afford any more tickets.

38k miles. :D

Was garaged for about 15 years (no rust in gastank or anything like that, he stored it right).

Speaking of which, my friend Joey was blasting down Summer street at about 80mph last week, some bitch pulled out in front of him.

Long story short, his arm is held on by staples and screws and a shitload of stitches right now.

That sucks. I've always wanted a motorcycle but the bad stories far outweigh the good stories for me at the moment. People are stupid enough when you are driving a car but in a car you can bash into people a bit more and not get owned.

You just have to be careful... my uncle has been riding since he was 19... he's now 45 and never had one accident.

I got into a fight with a cyclist at a stoplight, too. For no reason other than the fact that he didn't like motorcyclists.

I'm getting an R6 next. Get another SV, we'll cruise homeslice.

Where do you hide all your guns?

I keep a .45 in an ankle holster, and a shotgun in a holster on the other side of the bike (not pictured).

But I think for my mid life crisis, or perhaps if i score a sweet job I'd buy an Ariel Atom 2

Holy Shit

I was rididng back from Hollywood this afternoon, and I was at a station in Huntington Beach filling up. The guy in front of me makes smalltalk, and tells me about the Harley he just got. As i'm about to leave, I put on my helmet and flip down my visor and he sort of chuckles and says:

"You know, you sort of look like a bad guy from an 80's movie on that bike and with that jacket. :)"

I just laughed and told him I had been hearing that a lot lately.

So, I went down yesterday afternoon, pretty hard.

I was wearing all my gear, and ironically, I was on my way to Cycle Gear in Escondido to get some kevlar reinforced jeans, and a mesh jacket with armor inserts.

I was riding through a short twisty road that takes me straight from my house, to the freeway. I was on the 2nd to last turn, a long left sweeper, followed by a short righthander. As I began to change directions at the end of the turn, I saw some gravel in the road as soon as the bike was straightened up. I target fixated, and my front tire hit the patch of gravel, and skidded the 2-3 ft. off the road into someones gravel driveway. That's all I remember, I blacked out when I hit the pavement, but woke right back up and was well aware of what had just happened when I awakened.

Luckily, I have no broken bones. I was wearing jeans, so I have some pretty mild rash on my butt, and thigh area. However, both my knee's and my left elbow (the elbow I fell on) didn't fair so well.

The leather jacket I was wearing was a bit too big, so the left arm got folded up around my elbow, and I sustained some pretty bad rash (forearm tissue was exposed, and rocks were lodged in my arm from the road). "Scrubbing" the rash hurt, a lot. Without a doubt the worst pain i've endured, even with a morphine drip.

Both my knee's are rashed equally bad, the left knee was almost down to the kneecap. I also may have torn some ligiments in my left knee, but I have to wait and see when I go for an MRI this week.

I have no idea how my bike is, but according to the guys who stopped to help me (both riders, very nice people) it looks like the plastics took the majority of damage. My helmet is done, and did a fantastic job of protecting my melon. My gloves tore at one of the fingers, and my boots were pretty beat up. (Toe sliders got ripped from their screw, stitching busted in a few places).

It kind of sucks, because I wasnt exactly riding over my head at all. I should have been closer to the inside of the lane to prepare for the right hander, and I should have kept looking through the turn instead of fixating my eyes on the gravel.

In conclusion, I faired pretty well considering I went down at about 40-45. If my bike isn't that bad, chances are i'll pay to have it fixed. If it is totalled, i'll sell it as a parts bike and save up some money for a new bike and gear. However, that is going to take a few months.

Ya d00d, totally hillarious. ROFFLECOPTER!

Everyone goes down atleast once, most do so in the first month or two. There are two types of riders, those who have gone down, and those who will. I'm the former now.

I don't know the complete situation, but you might be able to go after the township/town/city who ever is in charge of maintaining the road. Loose gravel is a safety hazard.

Just a thought.

Glad you're still alive man!

You guys are absoloutely correct. Motorcycles are dangerous, very dangerous.

But riding one is an inexplicable high. Cranking open the throttle out of a big sweeper turn and flicking the bike into the next turn is almost enough to give me wood. :)

This is why I always prefered a nice cruising bike like a Harley over a sport bike. I like riding sport bikes but I often get my self in way over my head. Ive crashed one crotch rocket and it resulted in 3 broken ribs and some nasty road rash. Oh, and a totaled bike. But riding a few sportster harley and moving on up to a full size bike later, I have not come close to going down. Its way more fun and relaxing to be cruising along at 40 on a country road with that big ol loud son of a bitch under you.
