"I had a guy come up to me, in my face, saying, 'You think you're so cool? You're not cool' and I'm saying to him, 'Dude, it's a commercial.' "

God I hate those commercials, they just use the same old exaggerated stories about PC's while they ignore the Apple exaggerations. For example, the Mac guy should be wearing bling instead of grunge to show how much money they rape from people. They should also show him all bored and complaining about incompatibilities while PC guy is enjoying all the hottest software.

I hate those fucking commercials....
"Im a Mac, there are no virus's for me"
"Im a PC, theres lots of virus's for me"
"Im a Mac, there are no virus's for me because the total amount of Mac users is nil compaired to PC users."

Macs are actually cheaper then equivilantly equipped PCs, assuming the PC is purchased rather then home-built, which a large percentage aren't. As far as incompatabilities go, I'm not sure which ones your referring too... windows programs seem to run just fine on my MacBook. Sure bootcamp is still in beta, so the sound drivers are a little shoddy and don't reroute sound... but they will.
And the commercials work... thats what matters. According to the stats released at the WWDC the Mac growth rate over the last quarter has been nearly 20% as opposed to the only 5% of PCs. And after only one quarter of shipping Intel based systems, 75% of the 1.33 million shipped Macs have been intel based.
Combine with Leopard, the new woodcrest cores being introduced to macs, the MacPro (which is plain insane), and with Leopard - an official release of Boot Camp. I see nothing wrong with macs...
Add to the fact that Mac OS X is actually so much simpler to use then windows and the average PC fanboi has lost most of the main points of his anti-mac arguement.
Are there drawbacks? Yes. You have to reboot to use windows. And windows is windows.
and now for humor.
The "PC guy" at WWDC 2006 (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/wwdc2006/video/)
So PC fanbois, don't bother trying to argue... you might as well just say "MACS SUCK BECAUSE JOBS IS A ***!!1!11!!"

Macs are still overpriced, and require extra hoops to jump through in order to do everyday things.
Macs are good for graphic designers and thats about it.. still. They still haven't broken into the main stream market and I doubt they will anytime soon. Esp with their pricing. The intel macs are new, new things sell alot. People are buying macs because they have ipods.
In short macs are good for some things PC is better for most everything else, especially gaming and networking. I'm not a fanboi I work in the industry. I use both macs and PC's on our network here - 30 macs to be exact. They still have a long way to go imo but they are better than they were 5 years ago thats for damn sure. So they are making progress.. but they arent there yet.
I am more likely now however to buy a mac than I ever was before because of the great advances they have made. But I still don't like their proprietary shit.

The MacPro is a nice value. The top of the line models undercut DELL workstation pricing by a considerable margine.
I'm still a PC guy, but mac's have got some nice pluses to them. Especialy asthetics in the laptop area.
Why can't any PC laptops have smooth exteriors? Some Asus ones might get me though. Funny that ASUS makes some of the Macbooks for Apple.

Apple sucks. Its bullshit that I spend $250+ on music on iTunes, then I decide to use a Zen instead of iPod. What happens now? I have to buy about 30 CDs, burn my library, rip it off, re name everything, put it onto my Zen. I like what MS is doing with the Zune and the MS music store, they will give you all the songs that you have purchased on iTunes for free to use on the Zune. No more of this sutpid burning bullshit. Plus those commercials do piss me off. Oh they think they are so fucking cool.

If you were lucky and managed not to upgrade to iTunes 6, you could always use JHymn, but then you probably did upgrade..so no dice.

See right over your head and only proves my point. The negative points about PC's in the Mac commercials are exaggerated just as you suggest Macs being over priced is. Just as you have pointedly responded to each issue is exactly the same for the crap that they spew about PC's. If Mac fanboy's actually touted truth, they would have no points themselves. It is easy to say PC's crash Mac's don't. Truth? No. PC's have viruses Mac's don't. Truth? No. However Mac fanboy hype would like to make you think its fact, just as Mac's are over priced and incompatible with everything.
Thanks for adding support to my point.
By the end of 2005, there were 114,000 known viruses for PCs. In March 2006 alone, there were 850 new threats detected against Windows. Zero for Mac.
See, twisted. Zero Viruses for Mac? Amazing! Oh wait.....it's not 114,000 viruses to Zero, it's 850 viruses to Zero...oh wait, it is 850 "threats" to Zero for JUST March 2006. Ah clever advertising.
And its simple to update a Mac with the latest advances. By default, a Mac checks for updates weekly. For pure peace of mind, you can set a Mac to download security updates automatically. Apple digitally signs the updates, so you can be sure they come from a trusted source.
Damn, I wish they had something to update Windows like that....they could call it Windows Updater or something.
See...PC users can cherry pick too.

Mac needs to advertise somehow. The easiest way to get someone to buy your product is by showing the comsumer its advantages over you competitor's disadvantages. Whether or not the whole spectrum is given doesn't matter, so long as facts are given its a valid form of advertisement. The average consumer won't care enough to look deeper.
They can say that OS X is in terms of user friendlyness a plethora of goodness while Windows is about the equivilant of eating tacks. But they don't have to say that windows is infinately more compatible.
And negative-advertising is a two way street.
