Yeah I could prolly look this crap up, but why? You can just tell me.

The transporters.....cool looking, neat idea.

However, sitting in a transporter for 30min while some pilot flies me to battle will be really ghey. Like my coworker said, some of the things in life aren't fun and shouldn't be in games. Like just sitting there doing nothing.

So is this a 5 min ride? I could handle that, or are we talking 30min. In which case I won't be playing the game. Is there stuff to do? Turret gunners etc. Are they for everyone?

Basically I'm trying to find out how long I'm going to have to go afk while i'm getting flown into battle.

Well inside the transporter you can talk to other people and play cards.

So it might be fun.
Strip poker until we get there?

If the fighting is 30 min away, you picked the wrong spawn tube.

I like eMa's ideas.

but i doubt the ride in a transport will be that long.. and i doubt it will be too boring. There are gunner positions on the transport, and also a spot for a vehicle. Plus there are warp gates you can go through to other continents :D

(you cannot be attacked while around warp gates, so people cant camp)

Nice hijack :|

How is sitting in the back of a transport not boring? I mean horse rides to get anywhere in DAOC are the suck, you just hope on a horse and go do some other crap for 10 min :( But 10 min is about the longest horse ride.

Transports are faster then horses.

From what I understand, there are spawn places based on what your Empire controls. So basically when you start, if the front lines are in New York (for example) and you choose to spawn in California, then you deserve to spend all day in the transport.

Just b/c you deserve it doesn't make the game fun.

Well then you understand wrong ^_^

When you capture a base, you can choose to bind your respawn point there. Then, when you die you can respawn at that point or at the main base. But you only get to bind to one place.

Things might have changed by now, but this is the last info we've had on the subject.

I wasn't trying to be mean to you Rayzer, I was just trying to tell you not to use the horse.

I'm very familiar with the way bind points work. I'm sure I just need to read up a bit more. But respawning after dieing is a little different than us getting our clan together for a mission, all piling into the transport, then we all wait for 30min while Hamma flies us some place.

But what I gather is maybe the whole clan would be bound at a base, and we can grab our transport from there. With any luck we will only be a 5 min flight from the front lines :)

I'm not sure how long it will take, but while in the transport you can either be one of two gunners, or if you are just a passenger, you are watching the outside world with a camera thingy, looking out for any enemy aircraft or something...

lol, I'll be doing the escorting :D

There are also mobile bases that can be deployed as I understand it, you can choose to spawn there. The deployer can also pick who spawns there.. not sure exaclty how this works. Read it somewhere ;)

^^yeah you won't be sitting in a transport for 30 minutes...more like 5 or 10 MAX (including maneuvers to avoid air patrols, strategically position, etc.) I'm sure spawn points will not be so far apart from each other that it will take longer. I don't know how it works, but just by observation I would imagine flight time will take no more than a few minutes...if the pilot knows what they are doing of course...then the flight may be even shorter...if you know what I mean :p

hamma ain't gonna be no dropship pilot he'll stop at every strip bar there in enroute to the target!! you'll be placing yours as well as 6 other peoples lives and a vehicle (with people in it?) in MY hands mistar!!!

Oh BTW...I read this somewhere...

Being enclosed in a ship isn't often done, but sitting around staring at a wall could be tedious to some. Instead, passengers will be able to spectate with the chase cam, providing up to 14+ eyes to scan for incoming threats, and provide the gunners, mosquito escorts, and pilot an early heads up.

I'll be flying the friendly skys first class with Kaikou!!

I read today that a Dropship could carry a lot of people. Let me go find the info......

Here it is:

The Galaxy drop ship is the heaviest troop insertion and extraction aircraft. Designed to carry a full squad of players (one pilot, two gunners, four passengers, two heavy armors, and a light tank or buggy with driver, passengers and gunner), drop ships can easily deploy a fairly substantial force within a short amount of time. The Galaxy utilizes two 75mm cannons in its gunner positions for point defense against ground vehicles.
